The Most Eye-Popping Red Carpet Looks From The 2022 Grammys!
Music’s biggest night finally arrived last night (April 3rd), with fans around the world anxiously holding their breath to see whether their favorite artists would be commended for their work. With surprising upsets (a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance loss for the beloved BTS) and highly regarded awards going to the new voice of Gen-Z (Olivia Rodrigo won Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album), the Grammys were certainly an event to analyze. Perhaps most interesting of all was the red carpet – the Grammys are not known for their following of typical fashion trends but instead a daring glimpse into deconstructive aspects and bold glamour. 2022 was a year for chic, overstated looks with fresh shape and definitions. Let's take a look at some of our faves!
1. Lil Nas X
Multi-nominee Lil Nas X is the internet-proclaimed King of Interesting Men’s Fashion, and he did not come to disappoint in last night’s pearl-studded suit. This all-white, futuristic moment was accompanied by quilted detailing, a beautifully intricate butterfly for a welcome pop of color, and a casually popped collar. Perhaps one of the most enthralling looks of the night, this suit should be regaled for years to come.
2. Doja Cat
Never one to blend (except when it comes to that beat mug), Doja Cat looked every inch an ice princess with her sheer, crisp blue gown and shock-blonde hair. The stunning gown featured a matching opaque bodysuit and draping neckline, complete with an off-the-shoulder detail that emphasized the overall effect of the dress. Her hair, styled in early-2000s spikes and well-maintained bangs, was complemented by the dripping diamonds on Doja’s neck.
3. BTS
Everyone thank BTS for once again coordinating the perfect blend of color and cut to create an elegant mirage on the red carpet – the seven members of the K-Pop group wore Louis Vuitton in shades of white, navy blue, and warm nudes. With pops of blue silk, vivid purple, and even a larger-than-life boutonniere, BTS looked absolutely dynamite.
4. Michelle Zauner
The lead singer of indie dream pop band and Best New Artist nominee Japanese Breakfast, Michelle Zauner looked positively brilliant on last night’s red carpet, where she wore a bright, ruffled Valentino dress. The bold splash of yellow was playfully paired with braided buns, matching graphic eyeliner, and plenty of funky, ludic jewelry.
5. Bomba Estereo
The Columbian dance pop group came with one of the boldest looks of the night. Between a hot pink frilled full-length gown, a teal tux, a midnight blue tux, and zealous masks influenced by natural elements, the overall effect was as enticing and interesting as Bomba Estereo’s campy electric music, and the look completely stole the red carpet.
6. Jazzmeia Horn
Horn, the jazz singer and songwriter, looked like a ray of pious sunshine in her flowing canary yellow dress. The gown was complemented by a shimmering, abundant headscarf that added an interesting dimension to the look overall. Horn was a perfect vision on the 2022 red carpet.
