4 Beauty Trends That Need To Be Revived!

One day, there’s a makeup artist inspiring everyone to want to do a nude lip look, and the next day, there’s another beauty guru inspiring viewers to do dark lip liner with a shimmering gloss effect. That’s the vibe of the beauty industry. Time waits for no one, and over the years, so many beauty trends have come and conquered, making a bold impact on people globally. While some trends have remained popular for all these years, other trends’ spotlights have been dimmed, and we think they deserve to have the ultimate comeback!
1. Matte Lipstick
Matte Lipstick was the talk of the town back in the 2010s. Its bold colors, chalky, and long-lasting effect were the perfect way to finish off any makeup look. It felt like every girl inspired by beauty trends growing up had at least one. Especially if you followed entrepreneur, model, and media personality, Kylie Jenner, one of her signature looks included matte lipstick. If you ask us, Kylie is basically the face of matte lipstick. Her lips have always been a trending topic, but her Matte Era is unforgettable. She inspired many people to go for the matte look, so much so that she even created a beauty brand (Kylie Cosmetics) that the people went crazy for, and let’s just say those matte lipsticks she sold went faster than the speed of lightning. Honestly, we could see why. Generally speaking, matte lipsticks have an all-day wear effect, and you barely have to reapply or touch up. Matte lipsticks also have a texture and colors that are statement pieces and make your outfits 10 times better. Matte lipsticks also don’t make too much of a mess in comparison to glossy lipsticks. That sounds like enough reason to want to revive the matte lipstick trend. We say bring it back!

2. Charcoal Face Masks
Detoxing and taking care of your skin should never go out of style, and that alone is why charcoal masks should be revived and gain their spotlight back in the media. But let us just convince you some more. Mainly popular in 2016-2018, many people were on YouTube and Instagram recording themselves peeling charcoal masks from their faces. While some creators made light of the situation and often entertained us due to the many viewers wanting to see the blackheads come off, or others getting a good laugh from the reaction of the painful peeling of the masks, charcoal masks actually have many benefits. They offer a deep cleaning, unclogging pores and removing oil and dirt. They also improve acne and remove dead skin cells. All of these benefits leave the skin feeling and looking healthier. Who wouldn’t want healthier-looking skin? We think everyone would love that, and that’s just another reason charcoal face masks should be revived.
3. Shaved sides/Undercuts
If we’re talking about the ultimate cool girl appearance, there was a point in time when having shaved sides or an undercut stamped your cool status. All the girls were shaving their heads to get that edgy, rockstar, easy maintenance look. Rihanna,Cassie, Kelly Osbourne, Alicia Keys, and Halsey are just some of the celebrities who inspired the girls to go for the shaved sides or undercut look. If you’re asking yourself why this beauty trend should make a bold return, shaved sides and undercuts bring out the creative and artistic side of people, especially when it comes to the many different designs and styles they can do with their hair. We've seen so many people rock these styles with an unmatched confidence level. It also brings back some nostalgia for us. Let’s make shaved sides and undercuts cool again!
4. Bowtie buns
Since we’re on the topic of hair, it’s only right that we shine light on one of the coolest hair trends: bowtie buns. While buns that are shaped to resemble a bow have always been a thing, Cardi B brought even more attention to the hairstyle. Back in February 2021, Cardi was on Instagram live wearing two blue bowtie buns with a swoop in the front and instantly caught viewers’ attention. The hairstyle, which was done by popular hairstylist Tokyo Stylez, sparked a trend, and people all over YouTube and TikTok were recreating this look. Some even added their own twist with different colors and hair jewelry. Safe to say this trend put the girls in their creative bag, and we loved to see it.
We know the beauty world waits for no one, especially when it comes to new trends, but matte lipstick, charcoal face masks, shaved/undercuts, and bowtie buns deserve to be in the spotlight again!
