Some people wait all year for the Super Bowl, while others follow a different tradition. Since 2005, Animal Planet has used Super Bowl Sunday to host the Puppy Bowl. There, rescue dogs compete on two teams, Team Ruff vs. Team Fluff, for a chance to win the "Lombarky" Trophy. This year marks the biggest Puppy Bowl yet, featuring 150 rescue dogs from 72 different shelters. Here are our 5 favorite players from this year’s lineup!

5. Mia Muffin

This pup is proudly playing for Team Fluff. She’s such a big star, she’ll be signing paw-tographs at the Big Lake Humane Society’s Puppy Bowl “Watch Pawty” in Muskegon, Michigan, this weekend. Her name is almost as cute as she is, and we can’t talk about her without mentioning her adorable little bow! You’ll be able to see her as both a player and a cheerleader at the Puppy Bowl.

4. DeVon-tails Smith

From the Providence Animal Center in Media, Pennsylvania, this pup will be playing for Team Ruff. Ready to win, he was appropriately named after the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, DeVonta Smith. But get ready for some sibling rivalry, because this fetching fella will be competing against his brother Teddy, who will be playing for Team Fluff!

3. Twilight Barkle

This adorable pup will be playing for Team Fluff at the Puppy Bowl. Her unique "unicorn horn" comes from a rare congenital skull deformity, leading her to be named after Twilight Sparkle from "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic". After being an emergency rescue at Hearts & Bones Rescue in Dallas, Texas, she has since been adopted into a lovely home.

2. Chappell Bone

This Southeast Princess will be playing for Team Fluff. From the Florida Little Dog Rescue in St. Cloud, Florida, this adorable Pembroke Welsh Corgi is creatively named after pop star Chappell Roan. We know that, win or lose, she’s gonna keep on dancing at the Pink Puppy Club!

1. RuPaw

From Bosley’s Place in Smyrna, Georgia, this pup will be playing for Team Ruff. With a fierce wardrobe and even fiercer game face, this Boston Terrier is ready to bring Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent to the field. Named after drag superstar RuPaul, she better werk!

Are you rooting for Team Ruff or Team Fluff? To see who wins, you can watch the 22nd Annual Puppy Bowl on Sunday, February 8, at 2pm ET/11am PT on Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, HBO Max, and discovery+!
