ARTIST TO WATCH: Sigrid

Get ready, music lovers, because our new favorite artist, Sigrid, is about to take over 2017. At just 20 years old, this Norwegian artist is soon to be the talk of the town in these parts. We are certain that this newcomer won’t be a newcomer for long. Her raspy yet poppy sound is unique and sure to draw you in. We can see why she says her at-home piano is her best friend!

When she was only in high school, she was already getting air time on national radio, while still living in her hometown of Ålesund. National attention was received after performing an original track at her brother's show. He really pushed her to start writing her own music rather than perform cover songs. Sigrid is a combination of Zara Larsson, Lorde, with a dash of Adele’s sass.

Sigrid’s debut single from Island Records, "Don’t Kill My Vibe", definitely needs a place on your playlist. The serene but upbeat track sets the perfect mood for a Friday night at home or the most epic car jam session. There is also an acoustic version available on iTunes that is sure to leave you breathless as the piano plays in the background. Not to mention, she recently came off a busy week performing at SXS, performing at StubHub.

She will be releasing her first EP this Friday, April 7, and we can’t wait to see how her other tracks measure up to “Don’t Kill My Vibe”.
