Written by Rachel Rosenfield. Published: October 13 2023

"Dancing with the Stars" is currently in the middle of its 32nd(!) season. The celebrities often picked for "Dancing with the Stars" are either on the rise, on their way down, or they just want to experience something new. If they’re lucky, the winners of each season may get some more attention from their win. That could lead to some new opportunities that they might not be considered for otherwise. So, the question is, what are some past winners up to now? These are some "Dancing With the Stars" winners that have had some decent career boosts and thrilling projects since their "DWTS" victory!

1. Alfonso Ribeiro

As Will Smith’s dorky cousin Carlton on "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air", Alfonso Ribeiro made millions of viewers smile and laugh. Almost 20 years after the show, Ribeiro went from doing the "Carlton dance" to doing a ballroom dance. He was the winner of the 19th season of "Dancing with the Stars" with dance partner Witney Carson. After audiences were reminded of his witty personality through the competition series, Ribeiro rode this wave into becoming a television host. Right after "Dancing with the Stars", Ribeiro took over as host for the classic home video show, "America’s Funniest Home Videos", a position he still holds. Furthermore, with his newfound hosting abilities, Ribeiro was able to go full circle. Starting with Season 31, Ribero became a co-host of "Dancing with the Stars". It looks like, after his big win, Ribeiro could not get enough of "DWTS"!

2. Brooke Burke

With her television hosting jobs, Brooke Burke was a recognizable face to many people. She got her fame first through modeling, but then she began hosting many television shows, such as "Wild On!" and "Rock Star: INXS". With her time on "Dancing with the Stars", her fame was able to grow. Burke won the 7th season alongside Derek Hough. She got plenty more hosting opportunities after that, including on "Dancing with the Stars" itself. She was a co-hostess for 7 seasons, showing that she had a lot of dedication to the series. Currently, Burke is set to be the new host of "Penn and Teller: Fool Us". Off screen, she co-hosted the Miss America pageant for 4 years. Burke has also had successful business ventures, like her fitness app Brooke Burke Body and her podcast "Intimate Knowledge". She also wrote a book about motherhood, The Naked Mom: A Modern Mom's Fearless Revelations, Savvy Advice, and Soulful Reflections. Burke has had many projects since her Mirrorball Trophy win, and these projects are full of excitement.

3. Nicole Scherzinger

When she was the lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger was a pop diva of the 2000s. The band broke up in 2007, but Scherzinger was not going to give up the spotlight. That is what brought her to "Dancing with the Stars". In Season 10, Scherzinger was crowned the winner alongside Derek Hough. Since her time on the dance competition series, Scherzinger has made her way to some other competition series, but as a judge. Right after "Dancing with the Stars", Scherzinger was a judge on the singing competition "X Factor", both the British and American versions. Currently, she is a panelist on the exciting singing competition show, "The Masked Singer". Along with the judging, she has still been able to use her singing talents, now in musicals. She has starred in productions of Cats and Sunset Boulevard with packed audiences. One thing is for sure, Scherzinger knows how to stay booked and busy!

4. Bindi Irwin

Steve Irwin was one of the world’s most well-known conservationists and wildlife educators Now, his daughter Bindi Irwin honors his legacy. She has also been recognized for her care and education with animals, and all of this recognition is what led Irwin to "Dancing with the Stars". She won the 21st season alongside Derek Hough, as audiences couldn’t get enough of her dancing and bubbly personality. After "Dancing with the Stars", Irwin decided to do some more work involving her love of animals, like her father. Along with her mother and younger brother, Robert, Irwin hosts "Crikey! It’s the Irwins". In this Animal Planet series, the family demonstrates the work they do at the Australian Zoo and all of the cool animals that live there. Irwin’s animal work is admirable, and her win on "Dancing with the Stars" helped give that work a bit more attention.

5. Rumer Willis

Rumer Willis has been famous since birth thanks to having two famous parents, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. While some people may want to shy away from inherited fame, Willis embraced it. She has done quite a bit of acting, appearing in projects like The House Bunny and "90210". At one point, she decided to also get some dancing under her belt. Willis won the 20th season of "Dancing with the Stars" with Valentin Chmerkovskiy. People may not have expected her to be such a good dancer, but she was able to prove herself. Since that win, she has had more time to shine in the acting world. Soon after her win, Willis made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago. On screen, she has had notable parts in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and "Empire". Furthermore, Willis got 5th place on the first season of "The Masked Singer". Willis may not often be a leading lady (yet), but she can be seen in a lot of fun projects.

6. Bobby Bones

It can be difficult to be a recognizable face when you work in radio. However, Bobby Bones has defeated the odds. Bones hosts the nationally-syndicated country music radio show "The Bobby Bones Show", which consistently has millions of listeners. While Bones is used to being off-camera, "Dancing with the Stars" brought him into the spotlight. Bones won the 27th season with Sharna Burgess. Being in front of the camera can be a rush, and Bones was not done with his time on-screen. Before his win, Bones was a guest mentor on "American Idol". After the win, he became a full-time mentor, and was a guest host on one episode. Bones also hosted his own show on the National Geographic channel, "Breaking Bobby Bones", where he tried out many exciting jobs with experts. He also hosted the competition series "Snakes in the Grass", which featured many interesting challenges. Bones became known for his voice, but now he is getting known for his presence.

7. Jordan Fisher

As a heartthrob on the Disney Channel, many people wanted more of Jordan Fisher on their screens. Luckily, "Dancing with the Stars" was able to make that happen. When competing in the dance competition, Fisher was mostly known for his Disney roles in "Liv and Maddie" and Teen Beach Movie, as well as his stint as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton in Hamilton on Broadway. Since winning the 25th season of "Dancing with the Stars" with Lindsay Arnold, Fisher’s star status has gone up. He has done more work on Broadway, as he has played the titular role in Dear Evan Hansen, Anthony in Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and he will soon be Orpheus in Hadestown. On-screen, he starred in Rent: Live and "To All the Boys I Loved Before: P.S. I Love You". He also had a recurring role on "The Flash". It seems like everyone is taking notice of Jordan Fisher, and that probably will not stop any time soon.

8. Amber Riley

The musical television series "Glee" introduced the world to many impressive talents. One of the notable talents was Amber Riley, who played the role of fan-favorite Mercedes Jones. Fans got more of her during Riley’s run on "Dancing with the Stars". Riley, along with Derek Hough, won the 17th season, proving she is a triple-threat. Riley competed before "Glee" ended, so she still had a couple more seasons of wowing audiences after her dancing win. After that, Riley made the transition to the theater. She starred in the West End premiere of the hit musical Dreamgirls, which earned her the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Later, she won the 8th season of the singing competition "The Masked Singer" and got 4th place in the British version. When she is not doing these performances, she is releasing original music. Riley is clearly musically gifted, and she is working hard with that gift.
