7 Already-Iconic Looks From Beyonce’s 'Renaissance World Tour'!

Written by Brooklynn Taylor. Published: September 16 2023

The Renaissance World Tour has been a cultural-defining event, one that embodies the expressions of music, dance, and fashion to the fullest extent! Beyoncé’s on-stage ensembles embrace edgy chromes and metallics, thigh-high boots, sequins, and crystals. As you might expect from a queen, the phenomenal 3-hour set features a number of custom-made looks to match the disco-themed album, Renaissance.

"Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration," Beyoncé wrote in a message to her fans.

Dressed by the biggest names in luxury fashion, from Alexander McQueen, Jacquemus, and Loewe, to Mugler, Marc Jacobs, and so many more, Beyoncé’s tour fits are the epitome of “It Should Cost a Billion to Look This Good”, thanks to her incredible stylist Shiona Turini.

Let's take a closer look inside the Renaissance World Tour wardrobe!

1. Catsuit Kickoff

Beyoncé opened the first show of the tour in Stockholm, Sweden, wearing a crystal-embellished catsuit, custom-made courtesy of Alexander McQueen – just one of several looks from the designer!

2. Optical Illusions

Handcrafted in Paris and Barcelona, this design from Loewe gives fans an optical illusion, blending “futuristic concepts with theatrical, disco-era aesthetics; robots and machines meet high shine crystals, latex, and 3D printed leather pieces,” as stated on the official Loewe website.

3. Virgo’s Groove

In celebration of her 42nd birthday in Inglewood, California, Beyoncé's birthday wish was for fans to wear their “most fabulous silver fashions”. She came out during “Church Girl” wearing a Agent Provocateur bodysuit with bedazzled sunglasses, fringe rhinestone boots, and fittingly topped with the cutest chrome party hat. As the ultimate birthday gift, the legendary Diana Ross led 60,000 people in singing "Happy Birthday", which left the jaws of both the Beyhive and Beyoncé on the floor.

4. Buzz-Worthy

Custom designed by Mugler, this fit was composed of a cutout black and yellow bodysuit worn during the show's “America Has a Problem” segment. The bee headpiece is a reinterpretation of Thierry Mugler’s Spring 1997 couture collection.

5. Pearls, Pearls, Pearls!

“It’s not the diamonds” but it is the pearls! This Georges Hobieka nude catsuit embellished with pearls and sequins glistened on stage during Beyoncé’s Cologne, Germany, stop. The look was complemented with elegant black velvet gloves and the finest jewels from Tiffany & Co. For the ultimate fans, this look could be seen as a more sophisticated nod to Bey’s 2003 Dangerously In Love album cover, as the string of pearls drapes beautifully across her torso and back!

6. Celebrating Black Designers

In honor of Juneteenth, a holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S., Beyoncé wore looks exclusively created by Black designers at her Amsterdam show on June 19, which included Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, Maximilian Davis for Ferragamo, Ibrahim Kamara for Off-White, LaQuan Smith, and Feben! Beyoncé also took to the stage to debut her new Ivy Park collection, wearing a hot pink bodycon sequin gown, with pink satin lining and neon trim paired with silver pumps. In an Instagram post she said, “I was so engulfed in all things Renaissance and was inspired by Studio 54, Bob Mackie, and the disco era,” Beyoncé wrote. “I’m proud to be among the very talented Black designers featured in last night’s show to celebrate Juneteenth.”
