25th Anniversary "Gilmore Girls" Doc In The Works + EXCLUSIVE Chad Michael Murray Interview Clip!

Written by Katie Marzullo. Published: September 30 2025

Fall is here and that means two things – gallons of pumpkin spice lattes and our annual rewatch of “Gilmore Girls”. But this year, Fall also means a secret third thing: it’s the 25th anniversary of “Gilmore Girls”!

Yes, it’s true, for over 2 decades fans have been enchanted by the quirky denizens of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, specifically the mother-daughter duo of Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel). It’s a timeless story that transcends the years since the show’s debut on The WB (now The CW) back in October of 2000.

To celebrate this milestone, Ink On Paper Studios and executive producer Adam F. Goldberg are currently in production on a feature-length unofficial documentary about the series entitled Drink Coffee, Talk Fast, which takes a look at the enduring legacy of the beloved show. The doc will feature tons of interviews with the writers and the actors who brought the story to life, as well as fans who share their perspectives on how the show has shaped pop culture over the last quarter-century!

Among the interviews captured by directors Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna include those from “GG” writer and producer Stan Zimmerman, Jared Padalecki (Dean Forester), Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Keiko Agena (Lane Kim), Sally Struthers (Babette Dell), Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Emily Kuroda (Mrs. Kim), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy), Kathleen Wilhoite (Liz Danes), Matt Jones (Morgan), Grant Lee Phillips (the town troubadour), and even Tristin Dugray himself, Chad Michael Murray!

“As one of the most celebrated and rewatched series of the 21st century, the show has inspired audiences to dream bigger, talk faster, and cherish the people and places that feel like home,” says producer Jim Demonakos. “Drink Coffee, Talk Fast will reveal how 'Gilmore Girls' came to life, why it continues to resonate across generations, and how its unique blend of humor, heart, and pop culture shaped a devoted worldwide fan community with an in-depth look at its creation and the connections it continues to foster. This documentary is for fans of the show but also for anyone with an interest in cultural history and how it affects individual lives.”

Sounds like an amazing project, but it still needs YOUR help to get fully off the ground! If “Gilmore Girls” was appointment TV in your household back in the day and remains a part of your annual Fall watch list to this day, be sure to head over to the project’s Kickstarter to show your support!
