Celebs & Athletes Hit The Ice For LA Strong Benefit Hockey Game

What's up guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood.

To my left. Yeah, you know that guy. It's the Stanley Cup. But the players on the ice today are not playing for the Stanley Cup. No, they are playing for the city of Los Angeles. We're here at the Staple Center. Crypto. It's Crypto. It's Crypto. I still say Staples, but you can say Crypto if you want. But it's not a normal Kings game. No, what's happening today? We're here for a great cause. I have a lot of friends who lost their homes in the fires and, you know, anything we could do to to help. Bunch of NHL hockey players, former NHL players, Al Michaels, celebrities, Will Ferrell, Snoop Dogg. We're all getting together and playing hockey.

So, what are you doing today? Are you skating? Are you cheerleading, equipment manager? What's your role today?

I want to be equipment manager. I'm great at Gatorade. I'm great at like throwing people, you know, random towels and whatnot. But I think I'm here in more of a support role. They wanted me to skate, and I basically told them no. Second guest: I'm going to do whatever job I need to do. I'm going to go out there and be a team player. I'll block shots. I'll put pucks in the net. I'll get some assists. I mean, I'll do everything. I'll do it all. Jeremy Roenick is on my team, which is a big deal. And Dion Phaneuf, who's a friend of mine. Um, so yeah, I'm excited. We have a good team. I don't know what kind of pace this game is going to be at, but it's going to be it's going to be fun. Third guest: Yeah, Mark Messier. I can't wait to be on the ice with him. We got, uh, JB on the team, which is going to be great. We got Steve Carell.

JB? Justin Bieber. Yes, of course. If you didn't know that, I mean, come on now. Living under a rock. Young Hollywood. Yes.

What am I doing on Young Hollywood? As they say in Yiddish, I'm alt to cock a Hollywood.

You're not alt to cock a Hollywood. Come on. I don't know if you've noticed, but we are not Young Hollywood. I am also not an athlete. I'll speak for my wife in saying that she is athletic, but not an athlete. That's really nice. That's really kind. We're going to stay off the skates and leave that to the supportive. Fourth guest: Yeah. So Danny DeVito and I are coaching the Blue Team. So, uh, uh, we're here to win. Fifth guest: I'm on the IR, injured reserve. Played a Navy SEAL for 8 years and I really damaged my left leg a lot. We're going to blame it on Hollywood then. Sixth guest: Yes. I'm accepting bribes. Whoever wants me on their team, that's fine. Seventh guest: My last couple years playing, I tore both my ACLs. So, uh, yeah, I'll be in the press box, but that's where I do my best work. I'm going to be a setup man tonight. Like I said, the first responders, I'm going to dish out assists like appetizers. It's going to be fantastic. But listen, we're we're here playing for keeps. Yep. We want to win.

Well, you look amazing, but I think you're getting on the ice today. Is that right? So this comes off and your skates go on. Is that right?

Yeah, you know what? I don't think my game will be any different if I kept this thing on. I'm not going to lie. I'm a little nervous. I I thought there would be probably more people that didn't know how to skate and play hockey than I saw the teams. I'm like, Wow, these are like Mark Messier. That's pretty cool. I'm freaking I've been texting everyone all day like Justin Bieber's going to be there. I'm like Will Ferrell, you know, I grew up on every Will Ferrell movie. So I'm so excited just to watch and I think it's going to be fun. I think it's going to be just amazing.

But you're headlining the event. I mean amazing.

Yeah, I'm like hoping that like they see me sing.

The last time I put on my equipment was my last game that I played was three years ago. So, yeah, it's going to be exciting, um, to get back on the ice. I literally had to go and get my bag out of storage. I haven't skated with Mess before. This is my first time stepping on the ice with him. So, that'll be really, really cool just for me as a kid, you know, thinking about I tell Mess all the time. I said Mess, I know you got the six cups, but dude, I remember you from the Lays commercials. Eighth guest: I think it's going to be intense. I think everybody's going to be running on pure adrenaline, knowing there's a lot of eyes on them. I am a little bit concerned for Beebs, given last game, there was a few guys going after him. But I hope that he's got some protectors on his squad and if not, throw me in the lineup. No one will go near him because I'll shed the mitts for Beebs any day of the week. Ninth guest: Yeah, I think I'll be an instigator. Everybody I'm talking to is trying to be the assist guy, wants to be nice, doesn't want to go near Bieber. I think I might give a few people some behind the leg slashes. I just got two new hips last year, so I'm feeling pretty flexible, you know, I'm feeling like I'm going to do this. So, um, but no, I'm not I'm going to be the worst skater out there by far. It's not even close. Tenth guest: Consider myself an ex-pro. That's where my ego lies right now. Uh, we'll see in three hours if I'll say the same.

Listen, forget about your knees. Matt Leinart has two fake hips and he's getting on the ice. So, I think you can if they need you.

Okay, well, I would love to get some fake hips cuz mine are very sore and don't really work.

What's the strategy going into the exhibition game today?

Well, I'm not sure we're going to have much time for strategy. I'm not sure how much everybody skates here and there, but I know we're here for a good cause. We're here for to have a lot of fun. We're here to help people that have lost everything, were devastated by the fires, both emotionally and financially. And that's what we do as brothers and sisters. We come together and we help. This is LA Strong.

That's like an understatement. This town is resilient.

Yes, yes. I'm it's so amazing that so many people have come together and put on so many fundraisers and especially this. It's just it's been amazing.

So you battled these fires and now hockey's coming together for you guys and the community and the city. Talk about your perspective through all of this.

Oh, it's awesome watching everybody come together and then the Kings putting on an event like this for, you know, the people that lost their homes and stuff. It's awesome. Second guest: I think it's it's great. I feel like this is something that the hockey community always does and always does really well. Even when I was younger, like in in my small town, you would always rally when something went wrong and and you looked at the hockey team to be the starting point of that rally. So, yeah, I love it. Third guest: What happened now with the fires, it's so sad. I mean, I can't even imagine how it how it is for all the families and stuff. There's nothing you can say, you know, it's just awful. Fourth guest: Tough times don't last, tough people do and through this crazy tragedy of these fires, this is my first time being in the community of LA seeing it come together. People that live in other areas coming in donating food, clothes, you know, just people helping people. This is this is pretty cool. Fifth guest: All of us that are from LA just knew people or that were, you know, affected by the fires. So just to be here to support the Kings and what they're trying to do and and the first responders. This is all about them today. So. Sixth guest: They saved our house. We were evacuated for about two weeks, um, and it got to a point where, you know, maybe seven, eight days in, we weren't really sure if we were going to lose the house or not and we're so fortunate. We have so so many friends and family and the entire community that we could lean on. And then, of course, the the wait in force of of so many different agencies. And they they saved the community. Seventh guest: For a city kind of known for being transient, people aren't from here and everyone kind of does their own thing. It's obviously a terrible circumstance, but people coming together in a way that I don't even know if I expected. And so I think people take responsibility for their city and I think we realize what a mess it all was and I think the idea of like this isn't going to happen again and we're going to rebuild. Regardless how you feel about the politics or whatever. It's like this is uh, it's a devastating thing. Eighth guest: You know, it's amazing. I'm so proud of these guys. I'm proud of the NHL, I'm proud of the Kings for everything you've done to try to honor the first responders, victims, everybody like that. Ninth guest: Mama. Yeah. It's okay. They're going to switch it. Tenth guest: Yeah. It's really special seeing how many people have been checking in on each other. You know, it's everyone's just making sure, how are you? How's everyone affected and all that? Eleventh guest: We think it's important that we as a family make a difference in the communities and where we have franchises. And the Kings have done a great job. Eleventh guest: And in a time of tragedy to bring people together to recognize the first responders, to recognize the people who've lost so much, to give them a day a little bit different and be supportive.

We think is important. One of our identities of, you know, the LA Kings is just being resilient. Um, you know, I think we get that from our community and our fans. Los Angelenos, they come together, they bond, they're they're strong in their conviction. It's it's great to see. You know, a lot of the celebrities, we need their help, you know, with everything that we do and we're happy to have them and their support matters. So, yeah, we're going to move the needle today for sure for the LA community and it's going to be a great thing. Make our community safe and, you know, save lives. It's just phenomenal. So, uh, hats off to all of them for all that they've done for us and this is just a little way of us showing our gratitude and thanks. It's bigger than all of us. So I hope we can raise a lot of money.

Yeah. Yeah. I think Snoop is a coach. Uh, Will Ferrell is a coach. Uh, who else is a coach? Danny DeVito. Um,

Which one would you want coaching you?

Uh, probably Snoop Dogg, to be honest. I'm hoping somebody falls. All right. In front of Will Ferrell. I'm going to fall on my face skating. Yes. I want to impress him. Steve Carell. But no injuries. No, I'd be okay with me. It's not it's not me getting hurt.
