The World Can’t Get Enough of Rebel Wilson, Including ABC
ABC has greenlit a new comedy entitled “Super Fun Night”, backed by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco, and written by and starring Bridesmaids standout Rebel Wilson. "Super Fun Night" will follow three nerdy female friends, Kimmie (played by Wilson), Helen-Alice (by "SNL" grad Jenny Slate), and Marika (Edi Patterson).
The premise of the show is simple: These three geeky ladies believe a fun Friday night is staying home, eating pizza, and watching cheesy movies on TV (which ultimately sounds like my Friday nights). In an effort to break the rut, they come up with a plan to make every Friday night a “super fun night” and set out on a quest that takes them way beyond their comfort zone. Wilson, who recently starred in Bachelorette, is certainly no stranger to outrageous comedies. With her taking on writing duties as well, I can see how things could get out of hand... in a very good way!
“Super Fun Night” seems like a great fit for ABC, especially with their new edgy young ensemble comedies, such as "Happy Endings" and "Don’t Trust The B— in Apartment 23". It looks like they could have another winner on their hands. And it'll be great to get our weekly Rebel fix on the small screen!
