Chance The Rapper's efforts to improve the public school system in his native Chicago, Illinois has been given a big boost thanks to a $1.5 million donation from Google executives.

The No Problem hitmaker has made it a priority to raise much needed funds to help educators in his hometown since March (17), when he personally donated $1 million to the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Foundation.

Last month (Nov17), Chance partnered with bosses at the Jewel-Osco supermarket chain to give another $1 million to the cause, and on Wednesday (06Dec17), he secured a big check from officials at the charitable arm of tech giant Google.

The money will be split up, with $1 million going to Chance's arts education non-profit SocialWorks, and the remainder of the donation benefiting the CPS' Children First Fund to pay for computer science classes.

To coincide with the announcement, the hip-hop star made a surprise visit to the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Paideia Community Academy, where he crashed a coding class led by instructors from Google, who were teaching the kids all about an animation program Chance had once used as a public school student.

He previously dropped in on students at the city's Clark High School, where the Jewel-Osco donation was revealed.
