ARTIST TO WATCH: Gianmarco Soresi

Although Gianmarco Soresi is no stranger to the stage, 2025 brought his career to all new heights! The 37-year-old comedian is widely recognized for his elaborate stoolwork, distracting elbows, and vast collection of theatre-related T-shirts, which can be seen all over platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok where he has a combined total of over 3 million followers! His online presence highlights his witty crowd work as well as his sharp writing, both of which get delivered with his signature high-energy, theatrical flair! A theatre kid at heart, Soresi has taken his love for the spotlight and built himself a rapidly growing career as a stand-up comedian.
This past September, Soresi released his first full-length comedy special, "Thief of Joy", on YouTube, which The New York Times named the Best YouTube Special of 2025. His special covers a wide range of topics, from growing up with divorced parents to being "culturally Jewish", and even includes his own reimagined version of a scene from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit". The self-produced special saw immediate success, reaching over 1 million views within the first week it was posted, and has since reached 3.7 million views as of this writing!
Soresi also used 2025 to post 4 full performances of his live show, “Theater Adult", to his YouTube channel, giving his BFA in Musical Theatre its time to truly shine! The show has welcomed a wide variety of guests, from Tony Award-winning Laura Benanti to "Saturday Night Live" alum Alex Moffat. Soresi uses the show to take a nostalgic deep dive into his guests’ early, formative theatrical experiences, typically ending the show with a duet between them. But his guests aren’t the only ones talking about their past projects -- Soresi does theatre-related crowd work to get audience members to open up, as well! He even frequently brings them up onstage for impromptu performances of songs!
Although Soresi made his late-night debut on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" back in 2022, this past September marked his first appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", where he was the self-proclaimed "first male comedian to do standup on 'The Tonight Show' wearing shorts.” His set mainly focused on his current relationship, emphasizing his ability to find humor in everyday situations. It also really highlighted his physicality, as he incorporated some of his most energized stoolwork yet!
As if those accomplishments weren’t enough, his podcast "The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi" -- which he has worked on with his co-host, fellow actor and comedian Russell Daniels, since 2021 -- got picked up by the Headgum network in June. The weekly episodes involve Soresi and Daniels inviting a guest, typically a fellow comedian or actor, to hilariously discuss the “downsides" of their lives and careers. Some people like to listen to podcasts where the hosts only focus on the bright side, but if you’re looking for a podcast that welcomes cynicism, "The Downside" is the perfect one to pull up!
