ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Conan Gray

It all started, as it so often does these days, with a YouTube channel, stunning cover songs, and some amazing singles, and now singer/songwriter Conan Gray is taking the world of indie-pop by storm! The 22-year-old California native embarked on his singing journey in 2013 and has been on a roll of creating beautiful music ever since. In 2020 he released his debut album Kid Krow and has been on the track for huge success!

Conan began posting videos on YouTube in 2013 and has since opened for amazing acts like Panic! at the Disco, toured with Girl In Red, become besties with Olivia Rodrigo, and so much more. When people took notice of his YouTube, Conan then started posting original songs and gained an even larger and loyal audience. He even posted vlogs, giving fans an early glimpse into the star’s life.

In 2018, he signed with Republic Records and fleshed out his first EP Sunset Season after a series of singles and some time in school at UCLA. Fast forward to 2020, and Conan released his highly-anticipated debut album. Kid Krow was a beautiful piece of work with notable standouts like "Maniac", "Checkmate", and "Heather".

His album was sonically and lyrically so stunning (seriously, go do yourself a favor and listen if you haven’t already) and even got him noticed by the likes of Elton John and Taylor Swift – talk about legendary! I think it’s a safe bet to say that Conan Gray is just getting started.

Following his studio album, Conan has continued to release a string of singles, which fans hope is a sign that points to the next album. In October of 2020, Gray and Lauv collaborated on their hit single “Fake” (the perfect song to scream in your car, tbh) which was a huge success on the charts. 

It’s truly just the beginning for Conan, plus he recently released his single (with accompanying music video) “Astronomy” — also endorsed by queen Taylor Swift herself! The song is a haunting yet alluring track about the slow process of falling out of love, with lyrics like. “As much as it seems like you own my heart / It's astronomy, we're two worlds apart...”
