Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! Formula 1 is taking to the big screen in 2025! Apple Original Films has teamed up with F1 for their new movie that promises heart-racing thrills and interpersonal drama.

F1 the movie follows a retired racer (Brad Pitt) pulled out of obscurity to rejoin the sport. But racing isn’t all that will be demanded of him. A young driver (Damson Idris) requires Pitt’s training and expertise in order to win an upcoming race. Set to release in July of next year, the trailer shares an already intense glimpse into the life and work of Formula 1 racers.

Tron: Legacy’s Joseph Kosinski directs the project with writer Ehren Kruger, who previously wrote The Brothers Grimm (2005), Dumbo (2019), Ghost In The Shell (2017), and The Ring (2002). The duo previously paired up on Top Gun: Maverick, which released in 2022. Brad Pitt and Damson Idris share the screen with a star-studded cast of supporting actors, including Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Simone AshleySarah Niles, and Samson Kayo

Apple’s F1 also showcases some of the amazing racing of F1’s own drivers. A couple of professional racers are credited for their work in the stunts done for the picture -- Jack Barlow and Duncan Tappy worked with the production to create the hair-raising stunts and fast-paced drills. F1 marks the first role in the Hollywood scene for Barlow and adds to the list of stunts performed by Tappy. The latter has worked previously on Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) and The Sweeney (2012).

From the looks of the film, the partnership with F1, and the real racers inclusion in the production, F1 looks to be an ode to the world of racing. Not only will this movie be an intersection between sport and creative narrative but one aided by the official organization behind the sport itself. One thing’s for sure about F1, we’ll be racing to the theaters to see it!
