6 Positive Podcasts To Subscribe To!

Written by Jessica Espinoza. Published: February 25 2022

Let's face it, we could all use a little positivity in our lives these days, and after a grueling couple of weeks hearing some negative and hurtful podcast clips, we want to focus on some positive ones out there. For the most part, many of the most innovative podcasts today are hosted by women for women.

Here are a few that may interest you:

1. "Stuff Mom Never Told You"

Hosts Anney and Samantha delve into issues that affect women today, covering topics from mental health to sexuality and body positivity, and even politics. They break things down in a way everyone can understand and explore the history of gender stereotypes, as well as the turning points in women's history. This one is great if you want to start learning more about the movement to further women along.

2. "Still Buffering"

Here, hosts Sydnee McElroy, Teylor Smirl, and Rileigh Smirl explore what it is like to be a teen, looking into topics like angsty poetry, the internet, and even life in college. It makes for a fun listen when you feel nostalgic, but also pretty informative when you are in those points of your life in real time.

3. "Why Won’t You Date Me?"

The hilarious Nicole Byer started her podcast on December 1st, 2017, and it has taken off immensely since then. She explores her love life, why she is single, as well as discussing topics like love, life, sex, and much more. This is a twist to your basic relationship style podcasts by adding that light-hearted humor to it.

4. "Girlboss Radio"

Puno’s podcast exists for "women to (re)define success on their own terms.” It serves to create a reality where women can make progress in their lives and their careers, and for their communities. One of my favorite episodes is “Should I Go Freelance?”, the season finale of the podcast where they explore freelance work.

5. "Honeydew Me"

Emma Norman and Cass Anderson look into all topics that have to do with the bedroom and more! They talk on a woman’s right to great sex and being able to feel confident in their own bodies. They don’t claim to be experts, but they bring in a variety of guests that know what they are talking about. I love this show, as it gets into the real nitty-gritty that most people avoid.

6. "Bad In Bed"

This one is for our babes of the LGBTQ+ community! "Bad in Bed" is hosted by Gabrielle Kassel and Bobby Box, two queer sex educators and journalists. These are quick 30-minute episodes where they overshare and explain certain things that you probably never thought about.

These are some podcasts I have come to know and love within the past year -- let’s give them the appreciation they deserve!
