5 Sitcoms With Genuine Laugh-Out-Loud Moments!

There are so many TV shows out there today, and as you’re scrolling through a streaming platform, it’s hard to decide what to watch. Even when a series fits into a certain genre, you never know quite what experience you’ll get watching it. Though there are millions of comedy shows out there, many of them, though funny, don’t elicit actual laughs. If you’re looking for those true laugh-out-loud moments, below are some sitcom recommendations that you should definitely put on your watch list!
1. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine"
If you are a fan of sitcoms and have not seen "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", then you need to immediately drop what you’re doing and start binging this immediately. Every single character in this ensemble work-place comedy is unique, hilarious, and lovable, and their interactions will leave you laughing until your abs hurt. Andy Samberg produced and starred in this show, an "SNL" alum who brings unending charm to the screen. (Stream on Peacock and Netflix)
2. "The Other Two"
This is probably the most underrated sitcom of all time. It follows the lackluster lives of the older siblings of a Bieber-esque teenage pop star and is chock-full of satire and ridiculousness. And if you’re a fan of unlikable yet hilarious main characters, this is perfect for you. A lot of sitcoms repeat the same tropes and jokes that have been around since the genre began, but "The Other" Two has completely unique situations and gags, which I really appreciate about it. There is also character development and an overarching plot throughout the show’s 3seasons. I cannot recommend this show enough. (Stream on HBO Max)
3. "Schitt’s Creek"
If you want over-the-top, ridiculous characters, there is no better place to look than "Schitt’s Creek". Each of the four main characters brings an insane acting style that, in tandem with the show’s witty writing, will leave you in stitches. Catherine O’Hara especially shines in her role as the matriarch of the disgraced, formerly wealthy family that this series follows. Though eccentric, this series has many heartwarming moments and ultimately brings comfort and all sorts of good feelings while still being utterly hilarious. (Stream on Prime Video and Hulu)
4. "Pen15"
In this Hulu Original Series, Maya Erskine and Anna Konkie play versions of their middle school selves. This show embodies all the cringy weirdness that comes with being a pre-teen, the comedy aspects amplified by the fact that the actresses are thirty years old surrounded by a cast of actual middle schoolers. Both stars are truly hilarious, fully committing to the bit in a way that leads to many hysterical moments. However, beware of second-hand embarrassment, as that is "Pen15"’s bread and butter. (Stream on Hulu)
5. "2 Broke Girls"
Though I sometimes find that the presence of a laugh track lessens my enjoyment of a sitcom, I’m willing to overlook it for this show. It stars Kat Dennings, who plays her dead-pan character perfectly, and Beth Behrs, with Jennifer Coolidge included as part of the main cast. Two girls, each broke for different reasons, room in a small apartment and work at a diner together, surrounded by a cast of eclectic characters. If you love classic multi-camera sitcoms, "2 Broke Girls" definitely has that feel. (Available on VOD/Digital)
