Recently, some celebrities have taken to the internet to express their anti-cat opinions. Luckily, though, not every celeb feels that way towards our cute and cuddly companions. So, to counter any backlash against cats and cat owners, we are highlighting five icons and their feline furbabies. From Taylor Swift and her three idyllic character-named kitties to Iron Man himself and his two rescues, this list might surprise you and even make you want to get a furry friend of your own!

1. Taylor Swift + Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button

Whether you're a Swiftie or just know a little pop culture, it should come as no surprise that Taylor Swift loves cats. Mother to everyone’s favorite celeb cat trio, Taylor Swift’s kitties have fierce names to match their precious faces. Meredith Grey, named after Ellen Pompeo’s "Grey’s Anatomy" character, and Olivia Benson, named after the "Law & Order: SVU" detective, are both Scottish Folds, known for their curled ears and adorably smushed noses. Her newest addition, Benjamin Button, a fluffy Ragdoll, joined the crew rather serendipitously, meeting Swift on the set of “ME!” and using his big blue eyes to charm her into keeping him. From music video star to the cover of Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, Benjamin has undoubtedly made star-worthy contributions to Swift’s brand. Need more of these three? You can find all three of her cats scattered across her Instagram, striking poses and luxuriating in their mother’s unwavering love.

2. Lupita Nyong’o + Yoyo

Kenyan-Mexican actress, director, and model Lupita Nyong’o, is best known for her role in fierce feline tale Black Panther and her Academy Award-winning role in 12 Years a Slave. Despite her on-screen affinity for big cats, Nyong’o admitted she has always had a fear of cats. However, in her 2024 performance in A Quiet Place: Day One, she had to share the screen with a kitty co-star and face her fears. The exposure therapy worked far better than anyone could have ever expected, as the actress ended up adopting an orange tabby cat of her own, Yoyo, not long after. Nyong’o happily reported to People Magazine, “I'm way less lonely with my cat, and he pried my heart open." These two go to show that all it takes is a little love from a sweet kitty to melt the hearts of cat-cautious people.

3. Ed Sheeran + Calippo and Dorito

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran might be most well known for his pop hits like "Perfect", but what you may not know is that he thinks cats are perfect, too. In addition to caring for his two cute kitties, Calippo and Dorito, and curating their very own Instagram page, Ed finds plenty of time to spread his love to other felines in need. In 2014, he serenaded a group of adoptable cats at a cat cafe. Subsequently, in 2018, Madame Tussauds unveiled a wax figure of Sheeran in a London cat cafe, honoring the singer’s love for the sweet creatures. In 2024, Ed Sheeran returned to the cat cafe to try to win the hearts of these kitties once more, performing an encore of "Thinking out Loud".

4. Nicole Kidman + Ginger, Louis, and Snow

The beloved Australian actress and AMC spokeswoman Nicole Kidman admits she has always been a cat girl. From a young age, Kidman is pictured loving her three childhood cats. In 2020, she adopted her newest rescue cat, Louis, a black and white kitty, joining her fluffy white kitty, Snow, and long-haired orange and brown, Ginger, the cat duo she enjoys bringing on hikes. Recently, she has mentioned her desire to expand her pack once more to include a hairless Sphynx cat.

5. Robert Downey Jr. + D’Artagnan and Montgomery

It might surprise you to learn that Robert Downey Jr. has a soft spot for kitties. In fact, he is a devoted cat dad who admittedly lets his cats, D’Artagnan and Montgomery, reign over his home, bringing a healthy balance of peace and chaos. In 2022, he executive-produced the Discovery series "The Bond", foregrounding stories of animal and human connection in the 4-part series. It’s very clear from the way he talks about his kitties, and how he’s specially designed parts of his house for them, that RDJ cares very deeply about his bond with cats. I mean, just look at him and Monty!

Whether you are a cat parent yourself or an internet kitty enjoyer, these are just a few kitty-loving celebs out of many, which goes to show that just about anyone can fall in love with these furry friends. So go visit a cat cafe, your local adoption center, or your own home and give these sweet kitties their well-deserved scritches!
