Why Fans Are Hyped For 'Five Nights at Freddy’s 2'!

Your favorite animatronics will be returning to the big screen this December in the new Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie. After Five Nights at Freddy’s — the movie based on the popular horror video game — quickly became a box office success in 2023, it was no surprise when Blumhouse announced plans for a sequel. If fans didn’t have enough to be excited about, on October 10 the studio announced 3 new additions to the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 cast: Megan Fox as Toy Chica, popular theorist YouTuber MatPat as Toy Bonnie, and voice actor Kellen Goff as Toy Freddy. 

The casting announcement was made at the New York Comic-Con panel and featured a special video from MatPat where he revealed his role as Toy Bonnie. It’s no exaggeration to say that fans lost their minds when they heard the news.  

MatPat and Kellen Goff share a special connection to the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Matthew Patrick — better known by his YouTube persona MatPat — has created numerous theory videos about the series on his popular channel Game Theory. Often referred to by fans as "FNaF", the franchise is closely associated with MatPat thanks to his extensive content related to the game, making his involvement in the movie especially meaningful for longtime fans. MatPat even made a brief cameo in the first FNaF movie, playing a waiter named Ness, a nod to the game. Goff is no stranger to the FNaF universe either, having joined the game’s cast in 2016 as the voice of Funtime Freddy, Fredbear, and later Glamrock Freddy. 

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 takes place one year after the events of the first film and follows former security guard Mike Schmit (Josh Hutcherson) and his little sister Abby (Piper Rubio). They are forced to revisit the horrors of Fazzbears Pizzeria, unearthing new chilling secrets about the building and its uncanny residents. This film also introduces a cast of new characters, one of which will be played by actress Mckenna Grace, who is a familiar face in the horror genre, appearing in films like Scream 7 and Annabelle Comes Home. Audiences will also see some familiar faces from the first movie, including Elizabeth Lail as officer Vanessa Shelly and Matthew Lillard as William Afton. In a recent interview, Lillard even teased the prospects of a Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 if the second one performs well at the box office.  

So grab your popcorn buckets and get ready for some horrifying jumpscares because Freddy Fazbear has "prepared a special happy fun time just for you" on December 5...!
