1. Will Byers is a spy for Vecna.

We already know that, in Season 2, the Mind Flayer possessed Will, using him as a way to spy on his friends and family to evade defeat. However, some fans now believe that Vecna may still be influencing Will, using him as a medium to see through his eyes, and that this is how Vecna continues to stay one step ahead.

2. Will Byers has superpowers.

Fans have theorized that Will has superpowers — specifically, the ability to manipulate fire. This theory has become quite popular within the "Stranger Things" fanbase, especially after the trailer for the final season dropped, featuring many fire-filled scenes. There are also several clues from earlier seasons that hint Will might develop fire-related powers, most notably his frequent depictions of his Dungeons & Dragons character using fire abilities.

3. Holly Wheeler is connected to Vecna and the Upside Down.

Netflix has released the official episode titles for "Stranger Things" Season 5, with the second episode listed as “The Vanishing of…”, with the name intentionally left blank by the creators. Many fans have theorized that the redacted name refers to Holly Wheeler, the youngest daughter of the Wheeler family. People speculate that Vecna is targeting Holly the same way as in Season 1 with Will.

4. Vecna is erasing Will Byers’s existence from people’s memories.

In one of her videos, she explores a theory that Vecna has begun erasing Will from the memories of his loved ones so he can eventually use Will as a weapon, suggesting this might be why no one remembered Will’s birthday in Season 4.

5. Will Byers created the Upside Down. 

Although upon first hearing this theory, it may seem like a stretch, some fans believe that Will himself created the Upside Down when he was first taken in Season 1. Supporters of this theory point to the fact that time in the Upside Down is frozen on the day Will disappeared, arguing this is a strong indication that he may have created it. Additionally, fans connect this idea to the theory that Will has superpowers, suggesting he might have used those abilities to form the Upside Down.
