Young Hollywood

Welcome to Young Hollywood. com. Hey everyone, Michelle Marie here with Young Hollywood. We're here at the opening of the Laugh Factory in Long Beach. Let's go have some laughs.

Young Hollywood

I am here with Paul Rodriguez next to his very flattering statue. I think it looks good. What do you think?

Paul Rodriguez

It captured my eyes, you know. They're not bloodshot enough, but uh, I'll fix it. I got my own spray can.

Young Hollywood

Got your own spray can, really? You're keeping it in your back pocket?

Paul Rodriguez

Yes, I do, you know, because it's, that's how I got started being a comedian. I became a writer first. A low rider. I had a 1956 Impala. $5 a gallon, you know. It's terrible, but it's cut down on drive-bys in my neighborhood, so. We're, we're happy about that.

Young Hollywood

Have you ever done a drive-by yourself?

Paul Rodriguez

I have, but uh, we were too poor to have bullets, so we just, we used to do drive-bys and throw the bullets at people.

Young Hollywood

What do you think about the venue so far? You have a whole memorabilia wall over here.

Paul Rodriguez

Yeah, somebody broke into my house, got my shoes. I'm still using that stuff, you know. They got my old cell phone. My Chihuahua.

Young Hollywood

You have a big ass cell phone, why?

Paul Rodriguez

Yeah, it used to have a serious Die Hard attached to it. Chihuahua.

Young Hollywood

So, do you have a dog right now?

Paul Rodriguez

Uh, Chica and Lucas. I had three of them, but I got hungry. Hey. Don't want to eat the dogs now.

Young Hollywood

What happens if people don't laugh at you? What do you do to get them to laugh to actually snap them out of it? Do you throw tomatoes at them?

Paul Rodriguez

That's never happened to me. Never. Never. But you might have to ask other comedians. Why don't you ask uh, Pauly Shore? No. Just kidding, Pauly. Pauly's a great guy. One of my first jobs was babysitting him.
