Our 5 Favorite Moments From "The Muppet Show" Revival!

In celebration of the original show’s 50th anniversary, The Muppets returned to their original stage for "The Muppet Show" revival special, which premiered on Disney+ and ABC on February 4. The Seth Rogen-produced special brought the humor and heart that any Muppet fan would dream of. Although there’s been no official word on whether or not it’s been picked up as a full series, we sure hope it will be! Here are our 5 favorite moments from the fun-filled special. 

1. "Islands in the Stream"

Guest star Sabrina Carpenter and Kermit the Frog beautifully performed the iconic Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers duet together. That is, until Miss Piggy knocked Kermit out of the boat and took his place! The song quickly went from a sweet duet to Carpenter and Piggy singing "one diva to another", and we’re all here for it! We just hope it wasn’t too awkward for them, you know, with Miss Piggy threatening to sue Sabrina Carpenter for stealing her look, and all…!

2. The Theme Song

Talk about nostalgia! The special’s theme song was an impressive shot-for-shot recreation of the original. Watching all of the Muppets sing onstage together was definitely one of the highlights of the show for us. 

3. "Manchild"

Seeing Sabrina Carpenter perform "Manchild" with chicken backup singers was definitely not on our 2026 Bingo card, but we loved every second of it! This number perfectly combined Carpenter’s cheeky sense of humor with classic Muppet mishaps. The chickens even joined her in doing the viral dance!

4. "Muppet News Flash"

This "Muppet News Flash" segment was prompted by an experiment gone wrong that made one of Beaker’s eyes fly directly into Maya Rudolph’s mouth, causing her to start choking! She is initially reported dead, but thankfully comes back to life after "a thing" falls on her backstage, popping Beaker’s eye out of her mouth. There’s nothing like a little chaos to move "The Muppet Show" along, and this sketch did exactly that!

5. "Pigs in Wigs"

Miss Piggy absolutely shined in this sketch! While the original show had "Pigs in Space" to parody popular sci-fi shows of the time like "Star Trek" and "Lost in Space", the 2026 revival called for a more timely sketch, with the "Bridgerton"-inspired "Pigs in Wigs". Although Miss Piggy wore a wig for this sketch, do NOT get it twisted -- the hair you normally see on her head is her real hair! She said so herself.
