Five years after aquiring the rights and announcing a television adaptation, Amazon Prime Video finally released the first teaser for their Lord of the Rings prequel series coming September 2nd! It’s time for an adventure, and Amazon is allowing us to come along the journey.

On Super Bowl Sunday (February 13), Amazon released the first teaser of the highly-anticipated "Lord of the Rings" prequel series, which has been dubbed "The Rings of Power".

It has been reported that the budget of the series will be over $450 million just for the first season alone, which means that hopefully there is room for expansion on the Lord of the Rings universe that we know and love. In the teaser, we are already introduced to icy mountains, raging storms, and enormous monsters.

"Rings of Power" is meant to shed light on the forging of the rings. As co-creator Patrick McKay told Vanity Fair, "Rings for the elves, rings for dwarves, rings for men, and then the one ring Sauron used to deceive them all. It's the story of the creation of all those powers, where they came from, and what they did to each of those races." The teaser also suggests that the show will adopt a narrative structure similar to "Game of Thrones", with the characters, or groups of characters, embarking on separate journeys until key moments of convergence.

Speaking of characters, there are some fan favorites that are coming back -- for example, Galadriel, the elven queen played by Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, is said to be a key character in the upcoming series. Morfydd Clark will play a younger Galadriel, one ready to fight for the future of Middle Earth. Another key returning character is Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell and father of Arwen in the LOTR trilogy films. He will be played by Robert Aramayo.

In addition to these icons, there will be 22 series regulars, including Sophia Nomvete, Owain Aruther, and Ismael Cruz Córdova.

According to Vanity Fair, the first three episodes are "a lavish, compelling mix of palace intrigue, magic, warfare, and mythology–and there are enough mysteries to power a thousand podcasts.”

A description that would make anyone even more excited for the premiere of the show. So, make sure to mark your calendars, renew your subscriptions, and rewatch/reread the fantastical story, because this September 2nd we are immersing ourselves into Middle Earth once again!
