Jason DeRulo confirms Sparks split during awkward radio chat

R&B star Jason Derulo has confirmed reports suggesting he and longtime girlfriend Jordin Sparks have split.

The sad news broke on Thursday (25Sep14) hours before the Talk Dirty hitmaker was scheduled to appear on Minnesota-based DJ Big D's KDWB radio show - but DeRulo refused to cancel his appearance.

Asked to comment about news of his split with Sparks, he said, "I'd rather not", but when the radio host asked him if he and his now-ex would remain friends, the singer responded, "Yes", before adding, "Everything is cool. It's not a bad a situation. It's not one of those things."

DeRulo and Sparks had been dating for three years.
