Coachella Weekend 2 Recap!

After an incredible first weekend, the returning artists for Coachella’s second weekend had a lot to live up to. Let's get right into it!
Lisa came back to the desert in a strikingly sexy red version of her alien bodysuit. Her performance was as energetic and colorful as the rest of her outfits.
GloRilla returned to the stage of the Sahara Tent, and this weekend she welcomed Sexyy Red to join her. They sang their collab “Watchu Kno About Me" and celebrated Red’s recent 27th birthday.
Tyla paid homage to Britney Spears with an iconic green bra and tasseled jean shorts, reminiscent of Spears’s outfit from the 2001 MTV VMAs. Tyla previewed an unnamed song, sitting on the steps to deliver the sexy new single.

The Irish rap group Kneecap stirred controversy during their set. They claimed that, last weekend, their pro-Palestine remarks were cut from the livestream, so they opted for a visual message. Onto their backdrop, the group projected their message, “Free Palestine”. They also led their audience in a chant of “Free, free Palestine!”
Lady Gaga brought back her show-stopping rock opera, with the addition of some technical difficulties. During her opening number, “Bloody Mary”, Gaga’s headset went out and she was given a handheld microphone. She performed “Abracadabra” and “Judas”, both with famously intense choreography, while holding her microphone. Later, she apologized to fans with also remarking, “At least you know I sing live!”
On Saturday, Ed Sheeran made his desert debut, playing his first Coachella set at the Mojave Tent. Considering his iconic discography (and 4 Grammys), it’s shocking that he hasn’t played the festival until now. Fans seemed to feel the same way, packing the tent for the early 3pm show. Sheeran played completely alone, just a keyboard, guitar, and a looping station to accompany him.
Iconic conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Symphony welcomed several guests during their performance. One new face was Natasha Bedingfield to sing her 2004 hit, “Unwritten”. The set peaked with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters coming out to sing “The Sky is a Neighborhood” and “Everlong”. He was followed by the closing guest, Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, who sang a ballad from her upcoming sophomore album, I Forgive You. Then she sang Prince’s “Purple Rain”.
Saturday’s headliners, punk band Green Day, exchanged some playful bits with Charli XCX. Last weekend, Charli wore a sash that read “Miss Should Be Headliner”. In response, Green Day drummer Tre Cool posed in a sash made of toilet paper that read “Actual Headliner”. Charli was a good sport about it, reposting the photo with the caption, “Obsessed.” During the set, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong wore a green Brat hat, in support of Charli’s meteoric album.

The last day of Coachella was April 20, which coincided with both Easter and 4/20. To close out the festival was Post Malone, who got a little help from Ed Sheeran and Jelly Roll. They took a moment to plug the upcoming Travelin’ Tailgate Tour, where Jelly Roll will be opening for Post Malone, April 29- July 1.
“I’m so f****** grateful to be able to have the f****** opportunity to be able to go on tour with the kindest soul such as yourself,” Malone said.
It was a lovey-dovey ending to music’s biggest festival of the year, and we’re looking forward to the next one already!
