K-Pop Singer Heyoon Shares Her Christmas Plans & Faves

Tell me, Christmas is coming up. Do you have any plans?

Um, I'll probably be at home with my dog. Um, I'm working on the next track. So I think as soon as we're back, me and my team, we're just let's go. But on the day of Christmas, I want to make sure like it's chill and it's snowing in soul. So I'm going to get in the spirit and watch all my favorite movies. Just a chill.

Do you have a favorite movie? A Christmas movie?

Yes. Ha. I like to watch um, Frozen. I know it's not a Christmas movie, but I love Frozen. I love putting everything in a row and just going through the Home Alone all the classics. What about you?

Yes. Oh, um, my God. Don't judge me. A very Brady Christmas.

Oh, I haven't watched that one. I know what it is. I know it's so good. I love it. So good. I love it.

My dog. I have two dogs at home. I live with one of them to, I rescued them here in LA and then I flew back to Soul with them. He just had his second birthday. two days ago. Oh, yeah. I made him like a whole cake and like decorations. We did a whole party for him. I invited my family.

Okay. Oh, really? Oh. Oh, yeah. I love that. It's like everybody come here. We're doing birthday party for him.

He's my little baby. I love that.

They're questions. This one. Perfect. What is your most recent Aha moment?

Aha moment. It could be anything. That is a good question. Oh, I just had it the other day that like I think in English sometimes now because my mother language is Korean. Yes. And when I was living in LA, I used to think in Korean and then translate that into English, but now it works. It reversed somehow. So when I'm in Soul, sometimes I think in English and translate that. So yeah, identity crisis.

Yeah. My problem with the second language is I was I couldn't let the second language be.

But do you find that or are you able just to separate?

What do you mean by that?

Meaning like I whenever I try to do Spanish, he was like you keep trying to translate into English instead of just letting that language be itself.

Right. Yes, yes. Yes, yes, yes. And I'm like I'm not that smart. This is why.

No, exactly that. I I keep like translating slang.

Yes. And it doesn't transfer that way.

Do you ever have moments where someone's like, what did you just say?

Yeah, what did that mean? What did that mean? And I'm like, oh, um, it's a thing in English, you know.

What's your favorite slang in English?

Oh, I don't know. What's your favorite slang? Inspire me. We're like, what is a cool thing to say? Like, what do people say these days? Like What do people say these days? I mean, I call everyone love because I'm bad with names. Yeah. But that's not slang. It's sweet. It's right. It's endearing. Right. Yes, yes, yes. My friends say like bit. Like things like that a lot. So I I've picked it up a little bit where like I'm from Soul, but I have little accents and little things I I pick up from people here.

That's sweet. Tell me the first time I heard your song on the radio. What was that like?

Oh, really weird. Like in the best way. Everything feels unreal right now so far and we released the song two weeks ago, two, three weeks ago. It hasn't been that long at all and just seeing fans respond not just the radio. It's like, oh, this is happening and it's such a big difference being in a group and like having our music out and just having my baby, which is the first like debut single. The response definitely feels very personal because I put so much creative into it. It's amazing.

For an artist is that scary to be that vulnerable and it's like a baby when you present it to the world and now you're like, let's see what happens.

Yeah, definitely. But I think that's the beautiful part of it that I get to be honest and vulnerable and people relate to what's real eventually. So I'm trying to do that like more and more with my music.

Do you have a favorite lyric in pivot?

Um, I would say there's a line in the precourse I wrote that goes um, Treat me like it's holy water. Hold me like you're lost. I think that's a bar. I'm a very gentle person and I I love when people I love treats me back in a gentle way and speaks to me gently. So I was like, what do I want to be treated like? I want to be treated like it's holy water. Yeah, I think that's a bar.
