5 Lesser-Known Artists You Need To Know About!

Written by Brandon Foster. Published: April 29 2025

While some artists rise to the top and become household names, countless more go relatively unnoticed, creating for the sheer joy of it and performing to a small but dedicated fan base. With music from around the world more accessible than ever, it’s time to shine a spotlight on several lesser-known artists that are breaking trends and creating entirely new sounds that are uniquely their own. Here are our top five artists from a variety of genres that we think you’ll love!

1. Sordid Pink

This two-piece power project from Serbia is not one to be overlooked. Formerly known as Destiny Potato, Sordid Pink is in your face with the powerful vocal prowess of lead singer Aleksandra Djelmash and a sludgy cocktail of brilliant guitar, drum, bass, and synth, all cooked up by David Maxim Micic. As diverse as they are talented, their self-titled debut album spreads a gambit of genres and sounds, but each track is held firmly together by the consistent instrumental genius of David and the unforgettable vocal performances of Aleksandra. With her mesmerizing voice, and his powerful command over all things instrumental, Sordid Pink is a band that you won’t want to miss.

2. Sarah Wolfe

Sarah Wolfe is a unique artist whose genre-bending signature permeates her every track. She sings like an angel dancing in the darkness, often with melodic verses that swell into fierce crescendo choruses, sinking into your psyche and not letting go. Each song by Sarah has its own individual voice, like a painter who never uses the same color twice, but one common thread woven throughout is her raw, real, and relatable lyrics. Self-described as an artist “making songs and video games and songs for video games,” her creative spirit shines throughout her catalogue, making Sarah Wolfe an artist that deserves to be heard.

3. Trophy Scars

Trophy Scars stands in a league of its own, a truly one-of-a-kind band that’s impossible to put neatly in a box. Even when starting off as a progressive punk project from New Jersey in 2002, a thematic approach to building high concept albums has consistently run through the band’s blood. Over the years, their music has matured into a fusion of gritty blues, prog-rock, and several other genres/sub-genres that still don’t do them justice. Carried throughout their discography are the signature lyrics and vocals of lead singer Jerry Jones, and with higher concepts than ever before imbued in their most recent album Astral Pariah, Trophy Scars is a band that must be experienced to truly be understood. They've held a special place in my heart for the last 20 years, and it is my pleasure to share them with you.

4. Tides From Nebula

Not every band needs vocals to shine, and Tides From Nebula is certainly one of them. The only fully instrumental artists on our list, this Polish band’s music is saturated with celestial soundscapes infused with a healthy measure of shredding guitar and soaring climaxes. Their unique approach to song structure allows for the music to move in extraordinary ways, as if ever reaching upward towards the stars. Throughout their discography, a hopeful and uplifting thread weaves its way through each track, a soulful signature that sets Tides From Nebula apart as a special project that is certainly worth taking a listen to.

5. The Moth Gatherer

Hailing from Sweden, this post-metal band breaks all molds when it comes to song structure. The Moth Gatherer give their songs room to breathe and grow, with track lengths ranging anywhere from 5 minutes to over 11 minutes long, often highlighted by a slow, sludgy swell of sound that drones and grows before breaking into a bellowing cacophony of grinding metal and violent vocals. Obscure time signatures and polyrhythmic beats warp and fold in and over one another in the most unique and satisfying way that is distinct in The Moth Gatherer’s music. If you’re into metal and where it’s heading, this is unquestionably a band worth checking out.
