Rihanna wins top fashion award

Singer Rihanna has been named the 2014 Fashion Icon by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

The Diamonds hitmaker, a regular attendee at top designer catwalk shows during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month (Mar14), will be presented with the coveted award at the CFDA Fashion Award ceremony in June (14).

Steven Kolb, the CFDA's chief executive officer, says, "We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion's most exciting ambassador in recent memory."

Previous winners of the honour include supermodel Kate Moss and pop star Lady Gaga.
