Jay Sean on Catching Up With Lady Gaga

Why can't I be up against like I don't understand. First down was up against Black IPs. Breaking all records, I've been number one for 12 weeks. And that's the one I had to take out, of course. And then, Lady Gaga, faster selling song of all time apparently. And I'm up against that.

Cuz for people who grow up here, they're probably so over the Hollywood thing, they're used to seeing Johnny Dep at Earth Cafe or whatever it is. But But for us, we grow up watching Hollywood films. And all I ever wanted to do was meet a girl from the Valley who went, "Oh my God!" And so I come here and they're all like that. It's brilliant.

What are some of your favorite spots that you you like to hang out now when you're

I do like Earth Cafe a lot. I like eating there. Um there's this place called Starbucks which is awesome.

Never heard of that.

Now, we were talking about parties. I mean, the party you had the other night, the Cash Money party.

Yeah. That doesn't actually happen that often. We're so busy all of us that we actually don't get much chance to see each other. So when we do it, it's so much fun. You understand? Cuz like Wayne's off doing his thing and Nicki's off doing her thing and Drake's doing his thing. I'm doing my thing. But when we come together for that one moment, we have a we have a laugh, we have fun, you know, we we, you know, we just enjoy each other's music.

So what's it like like the whole family like Birdman now? He's got more tattoos he seems than last time. Every time you see him he seems to add them. Are they pressuring you at all now that You got no tats. You're the only one without any tats.

My granddad passed away a couple months ago and he was like he was my man, you know what I'm saying? He was the main man. So I'm going to get the same tattoo he had on his wrist. I'm going to put it on mine.

What the plaques?

The plaque. Yeah, the plaques.

I mean like I got my plaque a little while ago for um, you know, when when when down went number one. Just a small little thing. You just went number one. We were popping bottles when I was number 92 on the debut of of the billboard. Okay? Because it had just gone on sale and I couldn't believe that I was amongst the top 100 songs in America. That for me was an accomplishment.

So what'd you do? When you found out number one, what happened?

I was actually in uh I was actually in London. And uh I was with my family and friends. And you know, I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate because I was with the people that saw the whole journey.

And now the new album, the new songs, I mean you you got the new hot song with Lil Wayne. You guys are back for for part two.

We're back for part two, man. And you know what? Fingers crossed, it looks like we're heading in the same direction of of a of a real big smash with this one.

You guys are already charting. I mean the thing You know. Number two on iTunes on the second day. Yeah. Considering number one's Lady Gaga. And and that song alone is breaking

A lot of people don't realize that, though. I think just last couple years because that's when you really blew up. Even on the game.
