Prime Video's 'Legally Blonde' Prequel Series Finds Its Elle Woods!

Alert the presses, this is not a drill! A new Elle Woods has been announced for the upcoming Legally Blonde spinoff TV series!

"Elle", the Prime Video prequel series, has been undergoing their early stages of production, one part being casting for the titular role. After casting calls and audition processes, it has been announced via Reese Witherspoon herself that Lexi Minetree will star in the new show as Elle Woods. Witherspoon has been active with the process of casting, and we can’t think of a better person to channel the energy and vibe of a young Elle Woods than the originator herself!

The prequel series is a forward launch into the past life of Elle Woods before her adventures at Harvard Law School. The show is alleged to take place during Woods’s high school years, showing viewers where Elle made her start, and letting viewers get some needed backstory into what made Elle who she is. This film is one of many progressions in the Legally Blonde cinematic universe, with the original movie gaining a sequel back in 2003, and a third in 2009. The movie was also adapted into a Broadway musical production in 2007, becoming one of the more well-known musicals on Broadway and continuing the legacy of Elle Woods.

This will be Minetree’s first leading role in a project, her previous work being supporting or side roles. We can’t think of a better first leading project for someone than to live out what some girls would consider a dream role of becoming Elle Woods. Minetree and Witherspoon also look incredibly similar, definitely adding to the appeal of casting a younger Elle Woods. Minetree is sure to do amazing in this role, and this show is definitely one to look forward for once streaming comes out.
