Our 5 Favorite Performances From Week 1 of Netflix’s "Star Search" Revival!

Last week marked the 2-episode premiere of Netflix’s highly anticipated "Star Search" revival! The talent competition show will run for 5 weeks total, ending with the "Star Search" Champion getting crowned at the finale on February 17. The show’s panel consists of 4 judges: Chrissy Teigen, Jelly Roll, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and YOU! As the episodes are livestreamed, viewers get to vote with their remotes, having a real-time say in who wins each round. Here's who we gave the most stars to during the show's first week!
1. Bear Bailey
As the final act of the week, Bear Bailey brought the house down with his soulful performance of Jelly Roll and Brandon Lake’s "Hard Fought Hallelujah". The Louisiana native first gained recognition for covering songs in his local gas station and posting them to TikTok, where he has since amassed 4 million followers! His emotional "Star Search" performance brought Jelly Roll to tears and earned him the competition’s highest score so far, with a total of 4.6 stars!
2. Duo Vespertilio
Perhaps the most unique act to appear so far, Duo Vespertilio is a vampire-themed trapeze duo. The pair consists of Saifee Ghadiyali and Sierra Porreco, who performed a heart-stopping routine to 2WEI’s “Bad to the Bone". The danger and excitement from their entire performance being done in mid-air is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
3. Eric Adrien Williams
With multiple Broadway credits already under his belt, 11-year-old Eric Adrien Williams confidently took the stage as the first person to perform on the reboot! Paying homage to his role as Little Michael in MJ: The Musical, Williams performed The Jackson 5’s “I’ll Be There", brilliantly showcasing his powerhouse vocals!
4. The Force
The acro-dance group, which features dancers aged 10-14, knew exactly how to hype the audience up as Night 2’s opening act! Their routine to “Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters was both energetic and emotional, flawlessly combining impressive tricks with powerful facial expressions. Although they won’t be returning, having lost to 15-year-old magician Harry Merlin Piper by just 0.1 stars, we know that, with all of the talent demonstrated in this performance, their futures are sure to be "Golden"!
5. H3RIZON
We think it’s pretty safe to say that the Filipina-Australian girl group H3RIZON closed out the first night of performances with a bang! The trio, which consists of Bernie Marquez, Gabby Montalbo, and Tiara Nyuzo, arranged and performed a fabulous rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso", which perfectly highlighted their signature, tight-knit harmonies. And as if their performance wasn’t already impressive enough, they even incorporated a fun dance break using canes!
To vote for YOUR favorite performances, be sure to catch new episodes of "Star Search" streaming live on Netflix every Tuesday and Wednesday at 9pm ET/6pm PT!
