The competition was fierce for the "Star Search" finale! The winning acts from each of the 8 categories competed against one another in 4 head-to-head pairings. Then the voters, who consisted entirely of the show’s live viewers, each only had one vote to decide which of the 4 winning acts they wanted to become the ultimate "Star Search" champion. It was magician versus magician, as TJ Salta won the title as well as the $500,000 grand prize, with 15-year-old Harry Merlin Piper finishing as the 1st runner-up. Here are our 5 favorite performances from the star-studded finale!

1. TJ Salta

For his winning performance, TJ Salta took a risk by doing something he said he’d never done before, and boy, did it pay off! He started by recreating mind-bending tricks involving rings that his grandfather taught him, even connecting Jelly Roll and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s rings together. The end of his act was when things really got crazy, though. Salta appeared to have swallowed Sarah Michelle Gellar’s ring, only to have a falcon named Messiah fly in carrying it!

2. Movement 55

Movement 55 gave it their all with their powerful dance to Justin Timberlake’s "Cry Me a River". Their performance was filled with impressive flips and tricks, and Sophia Lucia’s choreography did a fantastic job at highlighting each of the dancers’ strengths. Although Coco Williams’s injury prevented her from performing with the group again this week, it was amazing to see her cheer them on from the audience. They unfortunately didn’t make it to the final four, having lost their head-to-head competition by less than half a star, but we know we’ll be seeing them shine again in no time!

3. Spud Howard

Spud Howard brought his signature growl and soul to his gospel rendition of R.E.M.’s "Everybody Hurts". Despite it only being his second week on the show, he became a quick fan favorite, with his performance ultimately landing him in 3rd place. His outfit was decked out with sparkling "S" accessories, and while they probably stood for "Spud", they easily could’ve stood for "Star" with the amazing performance he gave!

4. Duo Vespertilio

Duo Vespertilio did everything they could to up the stakes and uniqueness of their performances over the course of their 5 weeks at "Star Search", from performing with a blindfold and setting their ropes on fire to finally performing in glow-in-the-dark body paint for the finale! Their performance to "Boom Boom" by 2WEI and Lady Bri showcased their strength, flexibility, and trust more than ever before! Their 6 hours worth of body makeup proved to be worth it, as their jaw-dropping performance ultimately landed the pair in 4th place.

5. H3RIZON

Both the solos and harmonies in H3RIZON’s amazing rendition of JoJo’s "Leave (Get Out)" perfectly showcased each of their voices. They’d already proved they could dance with the dance breaks in their other performances, but the addition of backup dancers in this song proved just how amazing they truly are. Although they ultimately lost their head-to-head competition by just 0.28 stars, we second what Sarah Michelle Gellar said and can’t wait to hopefully see the trio going on tour sometime soon!
