Jojo is suing record label executives in a bid to free herself from a contract she signed at the age of 12.
The singer/actress, real name Joanna Levesque, signed a deal with Blackground Records and imprint Da Family Records in 2004 when she was a minor, and she has now filed legal papers in New York City insisting she should be allowed to end the agreement.
Under New York State law, minors cannot sign contracts which last longer than seven years.
JoJo, now 22, argues her agreement expired in March, 2011, according to the New York Daily News.
