Every Iconic Coco Chanel Wedding Dress That Has Hit The Runway!
Since the late-80s, every Chanel Haute Couture Show has ended with a stunning wedding dress. The ‘It Girls’ of the moment always strut down the runway wearing a one-of-a-kind creation which gives them the iconic nickname of a Chanel Bride. Supermodels of the '80s and '90s like Claudia Schiffer, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, and Devon Aoki helped Karl Lagerfeld start this bridal tradition, but current celebrities such as Lily-Rose Depp, Margaret Qualley, Kendall Jenner, and Cara Delevingne have been tapped as modern muses. In honor of Coco Chanel, the founder of the brand, celebrating her 141st birthday this month, let's pay tribute to the best Chanel wedding dresses to hit the runway!
Starting off strong, Claudia Schiffer wore multiple bridal ensembles at the Fall 1991 show, making use of creative headpieces.
For the Fall show in 1992, Schiffer wore a tweed ball gown that donned a black and white-striped piping. The dress was so memorable that Dua Lipa wore it to the 2023 Met Gala!
Claudia struck gold again at the Spring 1993 show, wearing a gown covered in lace with a matching pair of gloves and veil.
Claudia had another hit at the Fall 1993 show, wearing a white mini-dress featuring the iconic Chanel flower, a camellia. A dress inspired by the 1993 version was worn by Sofia Richie when she married Elliot Grainge in Antibes, Greece, last Spring.
We promise there are more faces to come, but Karl Lagerfeld was clearly inspired by Schiffer as he put her in a gown covered in tulle and ruffles for the Fall 1994 show.
Karolina Krukova took the runway in the Spring of 2002 in a light pink floor-length gown, with the top slightly covered by a sheer cardigan.
One of two bridal looks that took the runway at the Spring 2005 show was quite winter-themed, with snowball-esque appliques layered over a sparkly sheer gown.
Lily-Rose Depp took the runway in the Spring 2017 show, modeling an oversized mauve ruffle filled dress with an enormous train.
Actress Margaret Qualley closed out the runway in the Spring of 2021, later getting married in a similar Chanel wedding dress to Jack Antonoff in August of 2023.

Vivienne Rohner kept it classy in the Spring 2022 show, wearing a flower crown along with her slip-like stone-encrusted gown.
