Brandy receives humanitarian award at Atlanta festival

Brandy has been honoured for her charity work at a music festival in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Boy Is Mine hitmaker headlined the free Pure Heat Community Festival in Piedmont Park on Sunday (01Sep13) and organisers took the opportunity to celebrate the singer's philanthropic efforts.

Taking to her Twitter.com blog before the show, she wrote, "I'm so humbled to be receiving the Humanitarian Award at this year's Pure Heat Vision Community Festival today."

She later added, "I was born to serve God, my family, and my fans! Today was overwhelming and humbling. I feel thankful and grateful to be appreciated."
