D'Aaron Fox, we're here at the NBA Awards. Here with Mike Conley Jr. And of course, you come with the heat, Lou Will, we're here the sixth man of the year. How you feeling tonight?
Feeling good, brother. How about yourself?
I'm feeling good. You're looking good. I got to talk about your shoe game, right quick. We're talking about shoe game tonight. What are you rocking?
Uh, just got on some some Louboutin shoes. Crazy thing I've never done the sparkling like that. So it's my first time doing it like that. Second guest: We're doing a competition with the shoes. Uh, YSL today. Uh, really sleek, got the little little print on them. All black. Slick. Something slick I had to put for the runway. Third guest: I think these are Ferragamo. I I bought them yesterday. Yeah, just yesterday I got them, man, just for today.
And then the chain. You have it upside down. Why is it? Third guest: Cuz everywhere we go, we turn the city upside down. It was It was something unique that I wanted to do for for my for my logo. So we just turned it upside down.
You always come with something nice. What's like what what inspires you to, you know, your dress? Third guest: Uh, man, uh, it's just really just, you know, trying to to show my personality with clothes, man. I'm a fun guy. I like to, you know, dress appropriate, but at the same time, like, you know, throw some throw some style into it, throw throw some little, you know, spiciness and something that, you know, people will will take home and and talk about.
You're killing it. You're killing it. I got to say that Louis Vuitton's are looking fresh.
Green my favorite color, so I went with the turquoise. It's kind of close. So it's my first time making a doing a color like this. Yeah, yeah.
What's this moment like for you going to a new city, playing with new teammates?
Yeah, it's going to be a it's going to be a new experience, man. I'm ready for the opportunity. I'm excited of I'm excited for it. Um, they already have a great thing in place there with all the players they have and the coaching staff and I just want to come in and fit with them in the city and um get to understand it a little bit more and and looking forward to to doing some great things this year.
Now, how do you perform coming off the bench? What makes you
Yeah. Just stay ready. Just stay ready. You know, I've done this for so long in my career that it's just ingrained in in in in how I play and how I attack the game.
Okay. So, you're you're up for an award tonight. How how are you feeling about this award? How Confident?
Uh, I'm always confident, but I give credit where credit is due. And uh, I think Pascal had a great year. So.
Are you saying that just because he's coming off a championship year or
No, no, I'm not. Because of what he's done, the body of work, uh, going from last year to this year, I think he's improved the most.
Okay. I want to talk a little bit about one of your new teammates, Donovan Mitchell, great young guy. What do you see in his game and being able to play with someone like that?
Uh, Donovan is special. He's very special. Uh, as as everybody found out pretty early. Um, his ability to play on both ends of the ball is special. I think with what I do coming to the team and what I can help him with, um, just as far as being a vet and things that he can get better at, but I think we'll make uh, each other's games a lot a lot better. Just, you know, taking the pressure off one each one another, letting each other make plays for each other. Um, and it's going to be a lot of fun.
Rookie of the year. Okay. Tight race. Trey Young, Luka Dončić. Who do you have and why?
Oh, man, I just I I think it's Luka. Uh, I love Trey. Trey's my guy. Known Trey since like fifth grade. But I I think what Luka did, you know, for the entirety of the season. Um, I think that's the reason he he becomes rookie of the year this year. But it's definitely a close race. I mean, you wish you can give it to both, but I think Luka wins it. Second guest: That That one will be a tough one. I'm excited to see that one. Um, I think Luka had a great year. Um, and then Trey after the All-Star break, he just found a vibe and he made it tough for everybody. So, um, that's one of the awards tonight that I really look forward to. I don't know which way it'll go. They're fun to watch, you know, they're they're two guys that came right into the league and really showed that they can make the jump. Um, and their ability to pass, their ability to make plays, scoring, being aggressive. And then they're still unselfish. You mean, they're just unselfish stars. And it's going to be a fun league, you know, growing and watching them grow in in the league. Third guest: Yeah, man. Uh, Trey is just Trey is an amazing guard. He represented for Atlanta. He uh, he has a flashy style. Um, he's confident in his game. And Luka Luka's been a pro since he was 14, 15 years old, and it shows in how he play. So I'm excited to see.
We're going to play a little game. It's called pass, trash or dunk. Pass is like an assist, okay? So it's a good thing. Supreme, Gucci, Off-White.
I I like all I like all three, but Off-White, I I I'll probably dunk it.
You're dunking Off-White.
Yeah. I'm going to dunk Off-White. Second guest: Dunk Off-White, uh, pass, Supreme. Actually, I'm going to trash Gucci.
Trash Gucci. Second guest: Yeah, I'm cool on Gucci. You know, they they've done some questionable things, so I'm cool on them. And Supreme is dope. A little expensive for me, but it's dope. Third guest: Okay, pass, uh, Supreme. Supreme. Actually, I'm going to go Gucci pass because I don't I don't really rock Supreme like that.
Done deal. In-N-Out, Whataburger, Shake Shack.
Man, if you follow me on any If you No, if you Y'all know I play I play in California. If you follow me on anything, you already know trash automatically is In-N-Out. That's trash. Second guest: In-N-Out, I got to um, I got to dunk. Uh, man, I'm going to uh, I'm going to pass on on Shake Shack. Third guest: Whataburger's dunk. Shake Shack is pass. Trash Whataburger. And I'm going to dunk In-N-Out.
Shake Shack I'll pass and I will go ahead and trash Whataburger. Yeah.
