5 Fall Activities To Celebrate The Season!

Written by Gabriella Pérez. Published: September 22 2023

The leaves begin to turn and we've pull out our favorite sweaters -- the feelings of Autumn surround us. The Fall season is a special time of year as the air gets crisper, the clothes get warmer, and the food gets spicier. To help kick off the First Day of Fall, here are 5 activities you can do with your friends and family to get into the spirit of the season!

1. DIY Scarecrow

A fun way to start the season (and help your garden!) is to make your own scarecrow. For this activity, consider using old materials you may already have at home, like outgrown clothes or handles to an old broom or mop. This is a great way to let your inner artist shine with however you style and design your scarecrow. Some essentials you will need are hay/stuffing, a long pole or rod, string, hot glue, and decorative materials/accessories.

2. Visit an Orchard

Going to your local orchard is another great way to enjoy the season’s festivities. September is the best time to pick apples, so go hop on a hay ride up to the fields to go pick your own apples while you can. Many orchards offer fun family-friendly activities like tractor rides or a petting zoo, as well as a market to buy freshly-baked apple pie and some toasty apple cider.

3. Do a Corn Maze

Corn is more than just a Summer dish. This Fall, go get lost in a corn maze! Many mazes offer spooky versions of the traditional paths with haunted themes, while other mazes pride themselves on being large with fun planted patterns. A corn maze is a perfect way to get lost in fun for the day.

4. Make Homemade Candy Apples

A fun fall treat for all are delicious candy apples. Candy apples, similar to caramel apples, are a healthy and sweet snack that anyone can make. With candy apples, you can use any apple to make it however you like it -- on the tart side or on the sweeter side. Here is an easy recipe to follow on how to make your own candy apples.

5. Create an Autumn Wreath

The last DIY activity for the fall is to create your own autumn wreath. This is a great way to decorate your house without spending big bucks. What’s great about this craft is that you can make it however you want. A wreath is a simple way to decorate and bring everything together in a room. For this craft, you can make your wreath with things around your house and even outside of your house!

This Autumn, grab your friends and family to make one of these DIYs or go out and explore one of these fun outings. Happy Fall!
