Can you hear it? It’s the echo of the song “All I Want For Christmas” coming from literally every speaker in listening distance as the holiday season officially kicks off. Should we all agree that one of the best things about the festive season is watching a good movie, in a fully decorated room, with Christmas lights all around? If you want to keep the tradition going and rewatch Home Alone, Love, Actually, or Elf for the hundred(thousand)th time, we won’t judge, as we’re all in this together. However, there are plenty of cool new holiday films that are absolutely worth to check out. Who knows, maybe they’ll become a part of the traditional Christmas movie list too?

1. Falling For Christmas (Netflix)

This film is extra special, as we have one of our '90s icons, Lindsay Lohan, playing the lead role. Lohan’s character Sierra is a spoiled hotel heiress, who has a luxury lifestyle and dreams about being remembered. During a vacation, she gets engaged, but, after an unfortunate skiing accident, Sierra falls off a cliff and loses her memory, not remembering who she is. She finds herself in a cozy lodge with a handsome man and his daughter taking care of her. Will this “magical” encounter change her life once she gets her memory back? Well, you'll have to watch and see for yourself!

2. Spirited (Apple TV+ and in theaters)

If you’re a fan of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol or its various adaptations, then you’ll definitely love the new musical version of the most famous Christmas story! The classic tale transfers to the modern world where the ghosts of Christmas are trying to help a grumpy misanthrope (Ryan Reynolds) become a better person. If this, for some reason, doesn’t sound appealing, the cast of the movie will absolutely change your mind. The modern Scrooge is played by Reynolds, whose characters are always super-hilarious, and the Ghost of Christmas Present is portrayed by Will Ferrell -- yes THE Will Ferrell, our favorite Buddy the Elf! Christmas mood is now guaranteed!

3. "The Santa Clauses" (Disney+)

If Tim Allen’s legendary film about becoming a Santa was a part of your childhood as well, then we have excellent news for you: Scott Calvin is back with new adventures! He’s turning 65 (time flies so fast!) and is looking for a new Santa to replace him. The first 4 episodes of the most Christmassy TV series are currently available to stream, with the final two dropping on December 7 and 14. Who’s ready for all the nostalgia?

4. Christmas With You (Netflix)

Who doesn’t love a good romantic comedy with lots of festive vibes and great songs? Angelina (Aimee Garcia) is a famous pop star who’s struggling to write a Christmas hit. All of a sudden, she decides to visit one of her young fans in a small town, gets invited to dinner, and finally finds inspiration for songwriting after meeting an amateur musician. Lots of cute moments and fascinating snowy sceneries are guaranteed, plus the return of our biggest '90s crush Freddie Prinze Jr.

5. A Christmas Story Christmas (HBO Max)

It's a holiday tradition, and now it's finally getting a sequel! Set 33 years after the classic A Christmas Story, everything goes wrong when a now-grownup Ralphie Parker comes back to his hometown for the holidays and is urged to create the most magical Christmas, just like his dad used to do. He is nostalgic for the fun days he had as a child but also feels stressed from the whole responsibility as an adult. Don’t want to spoil the movie, but one thing is sure: there will be lots of funny moments that will absolutely crack you up!

6. Mistletoe Ranch (iTunes)

All the magical Christmas stories seem to take place in a cozy small town, don’t they? It all starts when a young photographer Aimée (Mercy Cornwall) moves back home to discover that Christmas is cancelled because of lack of money. She decides to save Christmas and, along with her first love James (Jordi Webber), try to bring the festive spirit into town. The movie has a great message about the feeling of home, love and unity. You can buy or rent this Australian romance on iTunes!

7. "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special" (Disney+)

Who would have thought that we’ll ever see the words "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "holidays" in one sentence?! In a new Christmas special, the Guardians are trying to cheer up Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), as he’s still sad after loosing Gamora. They find out that it’s Christmastime on Earth and decide to visit the planet in order to create some festive spirit and find the perfect present for Peter. Well, if that's not an example of a true friendship, then I don’t know what is.

8. Your Christmas Or Mine? (Prime Video)

Hayley (Cora Kirk) and James (Asa Butterfield) are a happy couple who are going to spend the holidays separately. After saying goodbye at a train station, they soon realize that they don’t want to spend the most magical time of the year without each other, so they both change their train in order to surprise their other half. And now both of them are stuck in each other’s hometowns, trying to find out more about their in-laws and enjoy Christmas as much as possible. Sometimes you need to be in a strange place all by yourself to finally be able to understand your true self.
