Taylor Swift has been nominated for nine MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), with Justin Bieber a close second with six nods.
Swift's hit with Kendrick Lamar, Bad Blood, is up for three awards, including Best Song and Best Video, and the pop star will compete against her British pal Ellie Goulding twice - in the Best Female category, along with Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, and for Best Song, with Major Lazer & DJ Snake, Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, and Wiz Khalifa with Charlie Puth.
The Shake It Off hitmaker is also up for Best Pop, Best U.S. Act, Best Live Act, Best Look and Biggest Fans awards.
Bieber will go head-to-head with another of Swift's friends, Ed Sheeran - they will fight it out to win the Best Male award along with Jason Derulo, Kanye West and Pharrell.
Lady Gaga's collaboration with veteran crooner Tony Bennett has earned them a nod for Best Live Act alongside Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Katy Perry and Swift.
The MTV EMAs will air on 25 October (15) from the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy.
