In the vibrant and constantly evolving Los Angeles arts scene, Antinomy Theater Company is emerging as a compelling new voice dedicated to championing contemporary storytelling and supporting the next generation of theatrical talent. Founded by writer, director, and actor Raymond Cham Jr., Antinomy is an independent Los Angeles-based theater collective with a bold mission: to tell original, moving stories that spark meaningful discourse while embracing humor, contradiction, and emotional depth.
At the heart of Antinomy’s artistic vision is a commitment to fresh and innovative narratives. Through their staged performances, Antinomy emphasizes imaginative risk-tasking and the development of new theatrical voices, which are reflected in their work. Its inaugural works, Antinomy and Pairings, were both written and directed by Cham and showcased a dynamic ensemble of performers in productions staged in 2024 and early 2025. The company works with a talented cast of emerging and established performers, including Nathaniel James, Ava Capri, Garrett Coffey, Rowen Kahn, Lukita Maxwell, Kayla Maisonet, Sasha Frolova, David Levi, Buddy Handleson, Kamran Lucas, and Rett Keeter. Together, these artists bring Antinomy’s stories to life with performances that are rooted in emotional truth yet unafraid to be daring and inventive.
Its most recent production, Antinomy’s Fables, staged in a space that feels both expansive and intimate at the LA Dance Project in Downtown Los Angeles, consists of 6 short plays spanning surreal comedy, psychological tension, and moments of startling vulnerability. Between plays, as sets are getting reconfigured and prepared, live music fills the space; during the performance observed, musical artist Holdan Sutton performs, sustaining the production’s momentum and keeping the audience engaged.
As the company continues to grow, Antimony stands as a testament to the vitality of independent theater in Los Angeles, affirming that distinct, singular voices and experimentally-driven ideas are central to the future of contemporary storytelling. Antinomy’s Fables wrapped its final performance on Sunday, December 14, leaving audiences eager to see what’s next in the new year and beyond!
