Rihanna and country singer Taylor Swift will go head-to-head at the MTV Europe Music Awards, battling it out to be named best pop star in the world.
The Umbrella hitmaker is leading the nominations with nods in six categories, including best female, best song, and best video. Swift is close behind with five nominations, including best live act and best look.
The two are going up against each other in the prestigious best pop act category, alongside Justin Bieber, No Doubt, and Katy Perry, and they will also battle it out for the title of best female, with the shortlist also featuring Perry, Pink, and Nicki Minaj.
In the best male category, Bieber gets another nod but faces some tough competition from hip-hop heavyweights Jay-Z, Kanye West, Flo Rida and Pitbull.
The Baby hitmaker and Firework singer Perry have notched up a total of four nominations each, and Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Lana Del Rey are among the acts receiving three nods.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Frankfurt, Germany on 11 November (12).
