The Thundermans Stars Return to The Iconic Lair For New Movie

Hey guys, Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood, coming to you from the Nickelodeon Studios in Burbank, Cali to my right, Jack Griffo and Kira Kosarin, stars of The Thundermans Return. Give me a little bit about what you're doing behind the scenes.

Uh, just got off the red carpet for our Thundermans Return premiere. It's all very exciting. I just arrived with a couple of my close friends and excited to watch the movie, yeah.

Let's rewind 10 years ago. Yeah. Young Hollywood was on your set. You're right. So, talk about like from then to now.

It's been a long time since we've uh been on set and I think we've both grown a lot as people, you know, outside of set and at home and with our friends and our relationships and our families and so I think coming back to it, you know, several years later, you know, it feels very uh very spot on to the show but still feels new and we've both, like I said, you know, become kind of grown up people and are able to put even more into these roles of who we really are. It was six years, almost to the day from when we all said goodbye to when we were all in a room together for the first time again, the first day on set in the recreated sets. So, this whole experience has been like incredibly emotional, incredibly special. We're so, so grateful and um now, exactly a year later, being about to see the movie feels very exciting and just like full circle. It's like the best, most awesome high school reunion. Yeah, literally.

You know, Take me back to that set, any fond memories that like something that sticks out in your head.

The the the Lair, I mean, the Lair is so iconic, you know. I was saying the other day that a lot of kids come up to me and just uh just tell me of their love, really, for for the Lair and everyone wants that slide going from the living room down into your room, right on your bed and for me like growing up, I watched, you know, Drake and Josh and iCarly and the the some of those sets were just so iconic and so to know that, you know, we have a couple of those things in our show that is that for a younger generation feels really, really cool.

Did you save anything from the original set?

But I have the boots that um collided with your head.

You have the boots?

I have the boots. Wow, I did also find the photos of you holding the like blood like the gauze on my head and me like in costume just being like I was doing a kick over her one episode and my jeans were too tight. I hadn't rehearsed it with the jeans and my like a hatchet kick just came down on Kira's head. It was violent. It was terrible, but she He came to the hospital with me. Such a trouper. We we it was a it was a hilarious night. For you. Kira got super badly hurt. It was so funny.

Wait, you had a hospital visit?

Yes. Now, we always know though and we knew when we were making this movie, you always run it through in wardrobe.

Mhm. You got it because there are no dress rehearsals in in TV and film the way that there are in theater.

More constricting, you know. You've got to like make sure like we like if you have a cape, for example. Yeah. The capes, no capes. No capes. Like Emma said. Yeah.

Okay. Yeah. We have to talk about the suits. Like there's nothing else what did uh Julia Roberts say in Pretty Woman? There's nothing else getting in this dress. There's nothing else getting in those suits. No. How like flawless.

Thank you. Nice job, guys. Thank you. We actually were able to completely redesign the suits from scratch to be more physically comfortable in terms of temperature, more flattering, to be tight where we want them and loose where we want them and, you know, um we got to do the new suits which were a thicker, sort of more neoprene material that held up better and worked better in cold temperatures and were a little snugger. And then we had the thinner, old supersuits that were a little better for fighting and we made sure

And also reconstructed, right?

And also completely reconstructed from scratch. Yeah. And so that there were layers inside, people could could do what they needed. And um we also made sure when we first started thinking of it all that we could write in a place where the capes would come off. So for the big fight scenes at the end, we wouldn't have to be in them.

Okay, so let's talk about the movie. You guys actually premiered the trailer at the Super Bowl.

Uh yeah, Super Bowl was a crazy week, man. We went to Las Vegas. Uh the first night there, we were we were thrust upon opening night, which is like the media night where all of the players are in their booths and kind of wandering and it's fully up to you to like go up, initiate a conversation, like we we have done interviews in the past. But not like this. And uh it was a really interesting fun challenge for us. And over the course of the night, we we figured out how to do it. And by the end of the night, we were having these like amazing huge athletes at the peak of their game at this Super Bowl moment, they've worked their whole life for like talking to us about Krabby Patties. It was really special.

So, biggest question about Super Bowl, did you see Travis and Taylor together? Did you speak to them? Did you speak to one of them? Give me the lowdown.

So I went to the Grammys and saw Taylor like standing right in front of me. And then the next night, I literally like went to sleep, woke up early, flew to Vegas and the next night saw Travis Kelsey with my own eyes at opening media night. So, I got to literally see them both like standing 20 feet away from me one night after the next, which I thought is in separate states, which I thought was maybe a unique experience.

I stalked them on my phone every 5 minutes. So.
