My Melody & Kuromi Are The Next Sanrio Characters To Get An Animated Series For Netflix!
Sanrio has come back in a big way with a new show on one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world, Netflix! The cutesy company, known for being home to Hello Kitty and Friends, has recently released news that they will be making a new show starring Sanrio’s own My Melody and Kuromi. The frenemies will be taking part in adventures throughout their homeland of Mariland, sharing their love of friendship and adventure.
The show will be using stop-motion technology to animate, thanks to the production team of Toruku. This will be their first venture into the stop-motion sphere, with a beautifully fitting show to start them off. The show will be directed by Tomoki Misato, who is most known for his work on show "Pui Pui Molcar". You can tell by the trailers of the show how much love and commitment was dedicated to the project, and it’s sure to show through the animation as well.
The show is set to release July 2025, just in time for the 50th anniversary of Melody and 20th anniversary of Kuromi. The two characters are some of the most popular members of the Sanrio brand, and this show further cements their legacy in the realm. The two, known for being rivals, are the perfect collaboration for a new Netflix show to kick off the start of Summer. What the show is primarily about is still in the air, but it seems to be another Sanrio classic! The two will be joining the previous Sanrio class of Netflix shows with Aggretsuko and Gudetama. The show has even released some posts to help promote the show, and keep us excited about any updates coming in.
Look forward to the release of the show, and following along with their social media accounts to get the most info about the upcoming premiere!
