Taking on the task of portraying the modern horrors of Gen-Z culture and relationships is a challenge that many filmmakers have been attempting over the last few years. Filmmaker Halina Reijn’s most recent comedy-horror Bodies Bodies Bodies tackles this daunting topic head on as a group of friends in their early-20s find themselves involved in a murder mystery at their mansion party. In an interview for the podcast "Crew Call", Reijn shared her purpose in making the film as "a fable and cautionary tale of what will happen if you don’t stop to reflect" and actually live in the world outside of your phone screen.

The film’s cast is stacked with prominent actors recognizable to any Gen-Z fan of social media, film, and television, as well as the world of comedy. The cast is a huge factor in what makes this film so enticing, so keep reading to find out more about the cast and the characters they portray!

1. Pete Davidson as David

Arguably one of the most well-known faces among Gen-Z for either his work on NBC’s "SNL", co-writing and acting in The King of Staten Island, or his star-studded dating history, Pete Davidson stars in Reijn’s film as David, the gracious host of the evening. In the same podcast, Reijn shared that she wanted to utilize Davidson’s strong acting skills in contrast to his typical roles as the goofy-stoner type, and instead "wanted to work with him in a darker way."

2. Amandla Stenberg as Sophie

Well known for numerous roles such as their breakout role of Rue in The Hunger Games and Alana in Dear Evan Hansen, Amandla Stenberg is another great addition to this cast. Stenberg portrays Sophie in the film, the outspoken and honest ringleader of the titular game “Bodies Bodies Bodies”. In an interview with with Collider, Stenberg describes Sophie as "very passionate and open and honest," which they explain "can also be a double-edged sword. It can also be very dangerous."

3. Maria Bakalova as Bee

An Academy Award nominee for her scene-stealing role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (no minor feat when your co-star is Sacha Baron Cohen), Maria Bakalova joins the cast as Bee, Sophie’s sweet and charming girlfriend. As one of the only outsiders to the tight-knit friend group, Bee has to grapple with the realization that she doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of the group.

4. Rachel Sennott as Alice

Viewers may recognize actress and comedian Rachel Sennott from her breakout role in Shiva Baby or her hilarious social media skits that helped her rise to fame. Regardless, if you’ve seen her work, you know she can deliver a powerful performance with great comedic skills. Sennott plays Alice in this film, a highly-anxious, highly-privileged social media influencer.

5. Lee Pace as Greg

Lee Pace has a bunch of well-known roles under his belt, such as Thranduil the Elvenking in The Hobbit trilogy and Ronan in Guardians of the Galaxy, and he can add another as he joins the cast as Greg, Alice’s significantly older boyfriend. Pace’s character is described as the group’s designated “himbo”.

6. Chase Sui Wonders as Emma

Chase Sui Wonders is an actress, director, and screenwriter best known for her role in Generation as Riley. Wonders joins the ensemble as Emma, an aspiring actress and David’s (Davidson) long-term girlfriend of 6 years. Wonders describes her character as resilient and composed, yet reveals in the same interview with Collider that "resilience can lead to deep repression of dark, dark demons".

7. Myha’la Herrold as Jordan

Most well-known for her role in British series "Industry", Myha’la Herrold joins the cast as Jordan, the “alpha” of the group. Though she takes charge in solving the murder mystery, Herrold warns the viewers against completely trusting her, stating that Jordan is "one of the least truthful people" among the friend group.

Make sure to check out this dark comedy following the crazy journey of a social media and image-obsessed friend group as they try to survive a night of murderous surprises and remember—no one can really be trusted in an age so full of facades and secrets…
