Actor and activist Ian Somerhalder has decided to stop accepting fan mail through the post in an effort to save trees.
The Vampire Diaries star has instead set up a specially-dedicated email account and is encouraging all devotees to do good by the planet by making use of the new online mail box.
In a series of Twitter.com posts, he writes, "Good news/bad news! Bad first - I will no longer be accepting mailed-in paper fanmail.
"Good news is I want to find a way to REALLY connect with you & written mail is too hard to keep up with and a DRAIN on our earth's resources. Email me IanSomerhalderFanMail@gmail.com and I'll do my best to read as many as possible,write back whenever I can & possibly surprise you".
