Over the past 10 years, A24 has done something that many independent production companies hope to do – make a brand out of their name. A24 is renowned for its arthouse films which have an indie film core and distinctive style.

Some of the most successful A24 movies include Everything Everywhere All At Once, Lady Bird, and Moonlight – all of which have earned multiple Academy Award nominations (and 2 are Best Picture winners). Last year, A24 produced the already iconic Babygirl, which stars Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, proving that A24 is the HOT new thing. So, what can we expect from them in 2025? Let's take a look at their upcoming slate!

Warfare (April 11)

Coming out next month is the war action movie Warfare, written and directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland, an Oscar-nominated director known for Ex-Machina and Civil War. The project is based on Mendoza’s experiences as a US Navy SEAL during the Iraq War. Set in 2006, the film follows a group of Navy SEALS on a mission through enemy territory – all in real-time! A promising premise calls for an exciting cast, which is definitely the case here with D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, Joseph Quinn, and Kit Connor.

The Legend of Ochi (April 25)

Making his feature film debut is writer/director Isaiah Saxon with this fantasy adventure film. The story is set on the fictional island of Carpathia and follows the farm girl, Yuri, who has been taught the dangers of the dark … and specifically the isolated creatures known as Ochi. But when Yuri discovers an injured baby Ochi alone, her big heart wins and she sets off on an adventure to return the Ochi to its family. Bringing the story to life will be newcomer Helena Zengel and industry professionals Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson, and Willem Dafoe.

Friendship (May 9)

Another first-time feature film director Andrew DeYoung makes his debut with the comedy Friendship. He is assisted by his star cast of Tim Robinson, Paul Rudd, Kate Mara, and Jack Dylan Grazer who together will tell the story of suburban dad Craig (Robinson), who unexpectedly finds himself falling for his new neighbor, Austin (Rudd). As Craig tries to manage the line between love and friendship, he threatens to ruin their lives. Yikes!

Bring Her Back (May 30)

On the other end of the spectrum is the upcoming horror film Bring Her Back, directed by the Australian twin filmmaking pair Michael and Danny Philippou (the latter wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Bill Hinzman). The movie follows a brother-sister duo as they start to uncover a horrifying ceremony at their new foster mother’s home, which is hidden away from society. The project is set to star Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins and Billy Barratt, the youngest person to win an International Emmy Award.

Materialists (June 13)

Anticipation for this rom-com is already high as it has been revealed that Dakota Johnson will be tangled up in a love triangle with Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. Not only is the casting *chef’s kiss* but writer/director Celine Song is renowned for her heartfelt love triangles, which we learned with her Oscar nomination for Past Lives. Materialists is set in NYC and follows a passionate matchmaker who suddenly finds herself in love with her perfect match and her not-so-perfect ex. We’ll have to wait until June to see who she chooses!

Marty Supreme (December 25)

On December 25th last year, A Complete Unknown premiered starring Timothée Chalamet in its lead role. On the same day this year, his newest project, a sports-adventure comedy, is set to come out. Sounds like a good omen! Chalamet portrays Marty Mauser, a young man who will stop at nothing to achieve his dream and more. The story is loosely based on the ping-pong professional Marty Reisman. Alongside Chalamet will be Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Sandra Bernhard, and Fran Drescher. The cast will be led by writer and director Josh Safdie, the man behind the award-winning Uncut Gems. It's a super buzzy project that we cannot wait to watch this Christmas!

Alongside these 6 upcoming movies are also a handful of A24 projects that have not yet received a specific release date for 2025. These include: Spike Lee’s newest crime thriller Highest 2 Lowest; a drama by Mary Bronstein called If I Had Legs I’d Kick You that premiered at Sundance this year; Ari Aster’s Western black comedy Eddington; the rom-com Eternity by David Freyne starring Miles Teller and Elizabeth OlsenSorry, Baby, a drama by Eva Victor; David Lowery’s epic melodrama featuring Anne Hathaway and Hunter SchaferMother Mary; and The Smashing Machine, a biopic of MMA fighter Mark Kerr by Benny Safdie starring Dwayne Johnson. WOW – what an exciting year!
