Whether it be selfies, long rants, humorous tweets, or LinkedIn job posts, if television met social media, their meeting would be legen--wait for it--DARY! Quick Barney Stinson from "How I Met Your Mother" reference there to showcase the types of TV characters who would thrive on social media, and there are too many to put on a list. In fact, if we wanted to, this list could have as many TV characters as Pokémon, currently sitting at 1,025. So we whittled it down to 6 characters who would earn our social media follow!

1. Ellie Williams ("The Last of Us")

Starting off our list, Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, leads the charge against the infected and towards the apocalyptic Instagram Live. Her social media would be an influencer/content creator paradise of sorts, as we would follow her journey through a rather rough patch. In her own words, she said, “People are making apocalypse jokes like there’s no tomorrow." And with that sort of humor, she would do numbers on Instagram and TikTok. Ellie loves collectibles, and as she traveled, she could do a whole separate series about different things she collects. And beyond all of this, she’s really caring, and her bond with Joel is the backbone of the show. We would watch her content with a full range of care, excitement, and hope as she tried to figure out the best way to move forward and help.

2. Moira Rose ("Schitt’s Creek")

"All the world’s a stage" is what William Shakespeare said, and Moira Rose (played by the late, great Catherine O'Hara) would agree. She would absolutely be treating Facebook as her own personal stage, and we would be front and center for all of the "bébé" content. Just imagine if, for some reason, there were an internet rumor that Moira Rose had died. She would swiftly descend to Facebook like the social media queen that she would be, declaring ,"Fear not, she hath risen." This social media stage would be Dramatic™, and we would love it. Throwbacks from her days in showbiz, wine-fueled rants about life, and the desperate attempt to escape from her fate in Schitt’s Creek would have her bébé gang going strong.

3. Selina Meyer ("Veep")

Politics are a large part of social media these days, with many candidates and politicians using it to their advantage (or disadvantage). Selina Meyer’s social media usage would be a battleground, as she could go against her rivals and tout her own achievements. We wouldn’t follow the VP/President for her incredible usage of the platform, as most of the time she’d probably defer to her aides anyway; however, we would follow her to watch the PR nightmare that would reflect, as we have seen, what can happen when you fire off way too many tweets. It would be the back-and-forthness of it, where with one scroll on Instagram we see her smiling and holding a baby, but on Twitter, she could be a completely different person.

4. Dwight Schrute ("The Office")

"Successfully increased beet yield by 15%. Bears, beware." Dwight’s social media usage would be a lot of LinkedIn; however, Dwight would be suspicious of mainstream social media. If he posts all willy nilly, his data could be compromised, so instead of oversharing on Facebook or Instagram Live, Dwight would be using private WhatsApp messaging for his contacts, and obviously LinkedIn to celebrate all of his work accomplishments. We can also see Dwight running a successful YouTube page with demos on karate, farming, and perhaps even his anti-Jim crusade, where he tries to rally people against his office nemesis. All in all, if Dwight used social media, and specifically LinkedIn, his title Assistant (to the) Regional Manager, would be a thing of the past.

5. Carmy Berzatto ("The Bear")

Carmy’s Instagram would be a foodie’s dream. From sandwiches to fine dining cuisine, Chef would share all of the food all of the time. Viewers could finally get the behind-the-scenes that they got from watching the show, all in the palm of their hands.  When Carmy got locked in the walk-in at the end of Season 2, and had a rather public yet chilly meltdown, the people across the social media waves would have been flowing into his Instagram Live. We would get to see Carmy take us through the ups and downs of his story, and for any creative, small business owner or foodie, his page would offer insights through an intense sort of vibe.

6. SpongeBob SquarePants ("SpongeBob SquarePants")

Lastly, representing the complete opposite to Carmy’s intense sort of vibe, SpongeBob SquarePants would thrive on social media. He would be hyper, cheery, bright, and spongey. His social media usage would always be something different. Filters?  SpongeBob invented those. Fun vibrant editing and animation? SpongeBob’s been living that world since the day he became a simple sponge. SpongeBob would probably be the most highly-followed social media platform to ever exist, and we are not exaggerating with that claim. He would respond to all of his fans, there would be no politics to speak of, and he would use every single platform. Whether it be TikTok dances, positive "BEST DAY EVER" tweets, or Gary pictures flooding Instagram, SpongeBob would make for a very FUN follow.
