This is the era of remakes and sequels! Nostalgia brings the iconic shows of the past to a new generation of people. Remakes are a sure-fire way of success, but living up to the hype of the originals isn’t easy. Fans are loyal to the shows they love and can make it known when they don’t like something. Ranked here are some of the best remakes to be greenlit over the last few years!

6. "Bel-Air" (Peacock)

“Bel-Air” takes a different approach from the '90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. The show initially starred Will Smith, James Avery, and Alfonso Ribeiro and was about a street-smart teen who moves from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, living in one of the most affluent neighborhoods. The new show, now on Peacock, dives deep into drama rather than the sitcom antics of before. The tone shift has thrown most fans off from the show, at times feeling like a soap opera. With that said, though, it demonstrates how something can be redone. We admire what the creators of the show have attempted to do. With a new cast playing the same characters, the show takes the serious themes from "Fresh Prince" and accentuates them with modern commentary.

5. "Fuller House" (Netflix)

The heart of “Full House” continues to grow bigger as the Tanner family deals with the next generation of kids. The show holds on to the same values and structures that “Full House” was based on. Aside from the Olsen twins, every cast member has returned to the series. The show aims to continue the same work the original did but with a contemporary touch. While some of the episodes feel new, others have felt like repeats straight out of “Full House”.

4. "The Connors" (ABC)

Despite struggles in the first few seasons,”The Connors” has been slowly making its way to one of the best sitcoms on air. A spinoff of the late-'80s show "Roseanne" starring comedian Roseanne Barr, the show found success showcasing the life of the average working class family. “The Connors” has been able to take the same concepts that were used from before and modernize them into new and relatable stories. “The Connors”, airing on ABC, includes most of the original cast with exciting new talent like Emma Kenney

3. "Twin Peaks" (Showtime)

Initially based on the limited series from the early-'90s, “Twin Peaks” broke ground when it returned to television on Showtime. From the mastermind David Lynch comes an even stranger and unusual world. Memorable characters return, and what you think you may know as part of the paradigm will quickly lead you in different directions to be surprised and amazed. This chilling reprisal picks up 25 years in the future for a new case to be solved.

2. "Hawaii Five-0" (Paramount+)

Heavily based off of the original '60s/'70s show, the police procedural walks in the same footsteps. Spanning 10 seasons, it wasn’t just the beautiful scenery that got people’s attention. The heavy action with bouts of humor made it a compelling show, revolving around a new federalized task force used to help clean up the islands of Hawaii. The characters are the same from the original show but with tweaks in their personalities.

1. "Queer Eye" (Netflix)

Possibly one of the best remakes isn’t a sitcom or dramatic series at all, but a reality show. The remake of the early-2000s series “Queer Eye” hit the ground running a second time on Netflix. With a whole new set of lifestyle gurus, the show aims to educate people on the LGBTQ+ community as well as the benefits of self-care. This series is more personal and less stigma-filled than before. These wholesome episodes will have you sobbing each and every time.
