5 Western Actors We'd Love To See In a "Squid Game" Spinoff!

"Squid Game" is one of the most popular shows ever. Although the show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has said that there will not be a Season 4, there have been many rumors of a spin-off, and the last season did a good job of leaving viewers with a cliff hanger, alluding to the possibility of more to come. If there is a spin-off of "Squid Game", and it is filmed with a cast of largely Western actors, as it has been rumored, these 5 actors would excel, and it would bring the show to new heights.
1. Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence for starters would be the comeback queen. She’s recently been in the news and all over social media talking about how she was at peace during her break, but she misses the acting world. It sounds like this is what it must feel like once one leaves the Games. Of course, they could never go back. However, the Games are still happening. Maybe this is a stretch, and we are not saying acting/Hollywood is the same thing as a deadly debt-collecting series of children’s games. But, Jennifer Lawrence has a ton of experience in one of the most intense, compete-for-your-life movie series, The Hunger Games, and she shows her aptitude for high-pressure, rich-vs-poor experiences.
2. Daniel Kaluuya
Daniel Kaluuya is an easy choice, as he has experience in the futuristic drama "Black Mirror" as well as Get Out -- a movie that features him trying to, in fact, get out, which of course is similar to the overall vibe of the players in "Squid Game". He often brings a rather intense yet calm energy to his characters, and his appearance in the spin-off would be no different. "Squid Game" is full of high, frantic energy, so his calming yet focused demeanor would be a welcome and great addition.
3. Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o is the face of a movie, Us, that actually showcases her face and her alter ego’s face. This dynamic is very similar to that of the contestants in the Squid Games. Everyone enters the games hoping to leave as a new person, but while they are competing, they often lie and pretend to be people they’re not. Lupita, through her extensive character acting -- especially through the lens of Adelaide Wilson and Red -- show that she would make an excellent addition to this spin-off series.
4. Rami Malek
Rami Malek could excel as the quiet, sort of unsettling, strategy type character, or he could be loud and performative. Really, he does so much well as an actor, and the reason we chose him for this list is because we see him excel as Elliot Alderson in "Mr. Robot", where he plays a reserved anti-hero of sorts, and we’ve also seen him play the eccentric Freddie Mercury. In "Mr. Robot", his character deals with social anxiety disorder, clinical depression, and dissociative identity, all things that would honestly be well suited for a well-rounded character to display in "Squid Game".
5. Bryan Cranston
We’ve seen Bryan Cranston play the comedic everyman dad in "Malcolm in the Middle" and also the desperate anti-hero type father in "Breaking Bad". "Squid Game" is all about watching what happens when people are pushed to their limits and they’re against it all, and Walter White exhibits many of these qualities. Past the explosions and death, past the illegal activity to make money, past the science, "Breaking Bad" and Cranston’s 4-time Emmy winning career show what some people will do for money and how it will drastically change their own life, and the lives of the people around them, which could be seamlessly integrated into a "Squid Game" spinoff.
