The Best Met Gala Afterparty Fits!

Written by Emma Cohen. Published: May 02 2023

The glitz and glam never just ends once the stars stroll the Met Gala carpet! After walking through the exhibit and attending the secretive formal dinner, celebrities switched things up and kept the fashion statements going at various star-studded afterparties throughout New York City. Last night, we saw gorgeous black & white ensembles, pearls & ribbons, and plenty of sparkles to light up a room. Everyone showed up to the afterparties giving daring, delicate, or effortlessly chic looks. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite outfits celebrities stepped out in post-Met Gala!

1. Cara Delevingne

Cara, whose Met Gala carpet outfit uniquely resembled Karl Lagerfeld, continued to pay homage with an even more Lagerfeld look later in the night. From the white hair to the gloves to the sunglasses, she was right on target with the theme at an afterparty at Zero Bond.

2. Kendall Jenner

Inspired by a 1994 Chanel Spring/Summer runway ensemble, Jenner opted for a stylish sheer moment, which was designed by Nensi Dojaka.

3. Lizzo

Nobody shines like Lizzo, who went blonde with a mesh gold metal look, which was custom-made by Julien Dossena for Paco Rabanne.

4. Olivia Rodrigo

At the afterparty, Rodrigo let her hair down and changed out of her floor-length gown into a charming mini-dress covered in sequins, which had elegant lace and a ribbon around the neckline.

5. Rihanna

The queen herself did not disappoint when she showed up fashionably late to the Met Gala carpet, and neither did she at the afterparty. She made her way to Dua Lipa’s afterparty in a full head-to-toe white outfit with some shimmering accessories.

6. Dua Lipa

As one of the co-chairs of the event, Dua Lipa absolutely understood the assignment. At the afterparty, she looked like a quintessential Chanel muse, dripping in vintage chains, pearls, and jewels.

7. Keke Palmer

Palmer got ready to stun on the streets of New York with a vivid, candy-colored moment. She was seen wearing Sergio Hudson to the annual Boom Boom Room afterparty.

8. Emily Ratajkowski

Ratajkowski swapped her Met Gala gown for a custom Dilara Findikoglu see-through midi-dress, which incorporated several signature Chanel touches.

9. Jennifer Lopez

Lopez put her own spin on a tuxedo in this elegant Ralph Lauren ensemble, which she paired with Christian Louboutin heels.

10. Jenna Ortega

After hitting the carpet in custom Thom Browne, Ortega sported a new look by the designer with this corset/mini-dress combination.

11. Penélope Cruz

Cruz, one of the co-chairs of the event and a brand ambassador for Chanel, nailed the theme both on and off the carpet. This ballet-esque garment blends hard and soft with a leather corset over a tulle mini-dress.

12. Rita Ora

Just like the attire we saw on both the carpet and at the afterparties, the classic Chanel accessories definitely won the night. Rita Ora was enveloped in pearls, Chanel logo chain belts, and a vintage coat by Fendi.
