The two actors will join new dad Ryan Gosling and Matt Bomer in director Shane Black's The Nice Guys.
Set in 1970s Los Angeles, the film follows the fortunes of a private eye, played by Gosling, and a thug-for-hire, who work together to find a missing girl.
Basinger will play a top lawmaker in the movie.
