Green, Gooey, and Greatness: A Recap Of The 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards!

And just like that, we’re back -- another year of gooey green slime, great energy, and excellent performances. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards were the place to be this weekend. Whether you were in the audience or watching from the comfort of your home, the KCAs had a whole vibe! Hosted by South African singer-songwriter Tyla, which was a historic moment in itself, the Kids’ Choice Awards were a hit, but if you missed it, here’s a recap!
To kick off the night, an appearance by Tyla, the first-ever African host, set the tone. A medley of hits over the past year were played as dancers graced the stage with their moves. This included music from Tyla, Ice Spice, and celebrity sightings from producer, songwriter Benny Blanco, and The Smurfs. The first award was presented by Nickelodeon’s own "Victorious" actor Leon Thomas and popular artist/YouTuber Alex Warren for Favorite Female Artist. Nominees included 7 phenomenal musicians, including Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, SZA, and Taylor Swift. While all of these ladies are incredible, only one could receive the KCAs Blimp. And just like her hit song, SZA didn’t “snooze” on this one as she took home the award. SZA also won Favorite Music Collaboration for the song "Luther" with Kendrick Lamar.
Immediately following the presentation of Favorite Female Artist, Benny Blanco and Grammy Award winner Victoria Monet presented the Favorite Female Animated Voice Award. A roaring crowd cheered as Auli’i Cravalho accepted the award for her voice work in Moana 2.
With so many awards to give out, one artist swept the night, winning a total of 3 awards for Favorite Female Breakout Artist, Song Of The Year, and Favorite Album. “Please, Please, Please” applaud Sabrina Carpenter for her excellent work!
The night continued with positive vibes and tons of slime. Machine Gun Kelly’s daughter, Casie Baker, introduced her dad as she jokingly stated, “No one really wants their parents at the party, but you, you’re pretty cool. Give it up for my dad, MGK.” MGK performed his song “Cliche” as fans cheered loudly in the background to his choreography and hit song. At the end of his performance, he was greeted by green slime. The other performance of the night included the global girl group Katseye as they energetically performed their song “Gnarly”. Their dance moves and cool wardrobe brought the vibes and hyped the crowd. They were also greeted with slime at the end of their performance.
Last but not least, we can’t forget about the ICON award. This year’s ICON Award went to a mother of 3, a Grammy-winning, Emmy-winning, beauty pioneering, fashion mogul-ing, Super Bowl-headlining, Met-Gala showstopper, global superstar, and a fanbase full of supporters begging for a new album. The list goes on and on, but we are indeed talking about badgalriri, Miss Savage Fenty herself, Rihanna! And although she couldn’t attend the Kids’ Choice Awards in person, she gave an inspiring message to viewers via pre-recorded video. “None of this would be possible without you… I just want to take this moment to remind all of you, wherever you are right now is significant and crucial to where you are about to go. Own your space in this world and know that you are chosen for greatness.”
Other memorable moments include Jack Black scoring a win for the King of Comedy Award and Favorite Movie Actor. Well-deserved for Jack Black as he made his entrance to accept the award with a rainbow tie-dye outfit. He stated, “Oh my goodness, I think this may be the best day of my life, this is so awesome.” He even joked and gave a shoutout to all the chicken jockeys as he was met with slime to the face.
There were so many other awards handed out; check out the full list here and stream the full ceremony now on Paramount+!
